  1. Armor protection of the tanks of the second postwar generation T-64 (T-64A), Chieftain Mk5P and M60 Technical data on soviet 1-st post WW2 generation of tanks, Like T-54, T-55 and T-62 are well known and well described in literature. But what if Soviet “premium” tanks of 70-s era were engaged into real combat against western tanks in Europre. This article provides description of "Object 432" (T-64) and T-64A tank combined protection (composite armor, anti radiation and chemical protection) in comparison to western designed tanks – “Chieftain” Mk5P and M60A1. Information on T-64 protection includes technical project (presentation) dated 1961 and technical drawings from various periods. Information on “Chieftain” Mk5P and M60A1 tanks is a result of study of captured tanks delivered to USSR in 1970s and beginning of 1980-s, published in technical reports of that period. The importance of information is the common testing criteria based on Soviet approach to tanks testing and protection design. This article contains mostly direct citations of facts and numbers published in reports with some comments. Well, suppose this is a useless task. Prepared a first article in English, but translating this materials is very complex task in question of terms. Will be grateful is anybody assist in corrections of this material (terms and so on). http://btvt.info/3attackdefensemobility/432armor_eng.htm

  4. German Army + industry testing Wirkmittel 90: Wirkmittel 90 (Effector 90) is an evolution of the RGW-90. The first series production models are currently being evaluated/validated for standard use with the German Army. It has a range of 1,200 metres (twice that of the currently used PzF-3IT-600 and more than twice that of a RGW-90). It is being used by the special forces of Army and Navy since an unknown amount of time already. Like all cool and modern RPG/davis gun in the German Army, it includes it's own fire control system and laser rangefinder. According to one of the guys in the video, it's accuracy is "nearly 100%", which is achieved thanks to a sustainer rocket motor and the projectile gathering wind and acceleration data, which is used for in-flight correction by the projectile. The muzzle velocity is about 200 m/s. The development of the Wirkmittel 90 for the German Army started some time after 2005, when the company was test-firing prototypes and invited a member of the German military procurement office to watch them. He was very impressed with the accuracy and range. The weapon can fire four types of ammunition: HE-FRAG (programmable ammo with air-burst option), smoke/fog, IR illumination and training ammunition. The German Army wants to use it to engage MG nests, infantry in structures or on open fields and unarmored/lightly armored vehicles. It is currently in series production for Germany, official introduction will be in a few months with an official handover ceremony.

  5. Hello everyone! I've made some videos concerning topics of military, strategy, technology and so on. So far I'm getting pretty good feedback on them so maybe you too would be interested in seeing them. Here's one on Turkey vs Russia: hypothetical air war Or US AMRAAM D missile compared to Russian R-77-1 missile Or UK vs France: hypothetical war So tell me what you think!

  6. Engineers, designers, farmers, labourers! I call you to the Glorious Task our Glorious Leader has given us! Our Glorious Leader has noticed that in the high-intensity insurgencies from the last decade fighters aren’t always using the most effective weapon possible. This cannot stand! It is our task to create a weapon that will give us a definitive edge over the enemy! Both in defending our Glorious Homeland against an insurgency and attacking infidel nations through the use of an insurgency! Our Glorious Leader calls upon everyone to help, we are One Glorious Nation and we are One! Furthermore, our Glorious Leader has set no requirements, everything can be submitted! Farmers, sharpen your pitchforks! Designers, sharpen your pencils! (Sharpened pitchforks and pencils will not be considered a valid submission) Although our Glorious Leader has set no requirements, he has a few requests for our new and Glorious Inventors. Although our Glorious Nation is a rich nation with many many smart people, there are some… less fortunate people. Our Glorious Leader has requested that you, if possible, do not exclude those people from using your Glorious Weapon! Our Glorious Leader will pick a winner in two categories. The winner of each category will be awarded with the Glorious Price of €25! The categories are as follows: - Effectiveness compared to weapons in the same category - Overall impact on an insurgency Our Glorious Leader has placed full trust in all of you, please do not fail him! Further information: Requirements: - None Requests: - Cheap to manufacture - Easy to manufacture - Easy to use These are not absolute requests, but relative to weapons in the same category. So a jet will not automatically lose versus a rifle just because it’s a jet. Competition rules: - The competition runs until May 31st, 2017. - More than one submission per person is allowed, but only one submission can win a price. - Submissions can be in text, 2D and/or 3D. - Submissions can be any weapon, weapon system or munition (Except sharpened pitchforks and pencils). - The text, 2D and/or 3D art submitted must be enough to understand how the weapon works. The Great Leader will not ask for clarification. If the Great Leader cannot understand the weapon, you have failed your Glorious Nation! - The Great Leader is available for questions for the length of the competition. - The Great Leader holds the right to change the rules of the contest if needed. Contestants will be notified of changes. - Toxn, Loooser and Bronezhilet are the Great Leader (Judge). Edit (15-4-2017): Allowed for the submission of weapon systems and ammunition. Edit (17-4-2017): Looser added as third judge.

  7. Journalists are retarded, inbred magpies. They are attracted to things that are shiny, new, controversial, and that are easily misapprehended by their vestigial brains. If the US Army chromed all the artillery shells used in the Mosul offensive and wrote "DICKS FUCK PUSSIES" on them the journalists wouldn't be able to shut up about it for a week. It would have no practical significance whatsoever, but the Bloviating class would fellate each other for their chattering and award themselves Pultizers galore for their hard-hitting war coverage and Speaking the Truth to Power. Not that any of this is news. Everyone worth speaking to has known that journalists are sub-human for several decades. What is novel and interesting is that the Age of Trump has shown that in addition to being useless idiots, journalists are also very predictable useless idiots.

  8. Looks a lot of like PLA OICW (QTS-11 IIRC), only with a magazine for GL. I see a handle for manual operation of GL on NK version, too.

  10. I will do one serious post on a subject of this "CW" use event and will not bother to cover it anymore. 1. Context and situation before of "CW attack" After Russian operation in Syria started in sept/oct of 2015, there were no Chemical weapon use by SAA/NDF/"Assad" militias and whatever, despite several excelent situation when CW use would have been acceptable and would kill actual enemies of SAA in big numbers, helping very much to assault operations. Examples - 1st and 2nd Palmyra operations, latest Tiger forces operation in Eastern Aleppo province, as those places are empty from any noticeable number of civilians (no civs in Palmyra/Tadmor at all). Assad and Syrian gov in large showed no attempts of ideological or ethical/religious discrimination of people living in occupied parts of Syria (except Wahabists and other radical islamists, jihadists), no attempt to deliberately kill civilians. Great example - Aleppo. During preparations for assault, islamists inside of E.Aleppo started to build additional barricades and cover, right in front of SAA positions. In order to not get shot during such work, they used number of Aleppo residents as a shield, i posted Poddubniy's footage of one of such "operations" in this thread (i am lazy to serach it, you can find it in part of thread that covered Al-Quds advances or later IIRC). A fact that islamists use civs as a shield (remember Eastern Ghouta and Jaish Al-Islam cages on top of the buildings full of residents?) shows that they perceive SAA and NDF as forces that give a value to lives of their people. Another fact - Syrian gov can accept deals with jihadists ("Green buses -> Idlib") that will decrease destruction of town/cities and firefights inside of them if they are full of civilians. Examples - Western Ghouta, Aleppo, current swap of islamists from Madaya to people in Fua and Kefraya (located near Idlib), Derayya, number of other small cases, all major of which also were covered in this thread. Not only that but Syrian gov continued to pay salaries in some occupied areas of a country (militants don't want to spend their time and resources in locals was part of the reason why they didn't stopped this practice) for several years after war started. So any claims that "Assad" deliberately kill Syrians with any weapon type i view with very high level of distrust. I also want to remind that islamists and ISIS used chemical weapons by themselfs number of times, including mortar rounds filled some chemicals (my avatar is taken from a screengrab during extraction of one of those mortar rounds), famous Hell Cannons also were used with gas canisters filled with non-explosive chemicals that are "not very healthy". Such weapons were used in Aleppo, in SW Aleppo province, and in Iraq (i posted one of examples of chemical attack on ISF in General news thread several weeks ago IIRC). Plenty of chemicals to make such weapons were captured in Eastern Aleppo. Jihadists in Aleppo province are in not a good shape, as their failure and quick collapse in Aleppo, failed attempt to deblockade it and failed assaults in Western parts of Aleppo shows their decreasing military power. Latest offencive in Northen Hama province also pretty much failed, and reports of Tiger forces arrival in big number just after their very successfull Eastern Aleppo province operation were pretty good "symptoms" of possible assault operation in Northen Hama by SAA. All major attacks were repelled with conventional weapons and lost villages re-captured with conventional weapons during rather usual for Northen Hama clashes between SAA/NDF and Nusra (2015-2016)/Ha'yar Takhrir Ash-Sham (2017), Akhrar Ash-Sham, and their smaller allies. What looked like yet another back-forward fighting in Northen Hama (before arrival of major part of Tiger forces) suddenly became much bigger event. 2. CW attack and why i think that it was anything other than what it was according to claims by militants Video of situation "just after" attack was recorded and posted by White Helmets. They are known for making plenty of fake videos of "results" of airstrikes, but let as watch a video: White helmets, being first responders that arrived to a site of just happened CW attack use no protection gear, and they don't suffer any problems! Japan, learn from Jihad deisgn bureau with it's invisible NBC suits! I also like how half of people on the video are almost naked and some of them are standing near the car in the background. And yes, using water apperently cures people and washes deadly chemicals gases away. It is laso strange why they are so densely packed in one compound, together with kids. Speaking about place where this footage was taken: And it is not like WH have no NBC suits in that place.. Second video also shows doctors walking around doing selfies and lazily doing some "doctor" stuff in between. And that guy that doing video is known islamist and journalists kidnapper. Place of impact: Fragmentational damage from chemical weapon canister? Not only WH can survive in sarin gas without NBC protection, but they also can predict the future! Also from Withtin Syria blog: And this is claimed to be photo of victims of this sarin attack. If it is true, than some of those dead kids in a video were actually dead, but not from sarin, as some of them have visible head traumas. 3. After Chemical weapons attack Didn't saw any list of victims. Does anybody have it? Military situation did not changed seriously in Northen Hama frontlines, but 5th corp on Palmyra frontline will have lower airsupport becuase of several Su-22s were destroyed (thanks Trump). Several other small new CW attack claims, in Eastern Ghouta being a bit more noticeable (posted video in this thread several pages ago). Syrian gov made a deal to pull a lot of civilians from Fua and Kefraya in Northen Idlib, greenbuses are in the process of delivering freedom fighters to their Free (from Rafidits) Land of Idlib. Tiger forces are preparing for operation in Northen Hama, some sort of recon attack happened in Northen Aleppo. I hope that plans to start assault would not be blocked by politicians as latest rethorics from Turkey, US, Saudi Arabia suggest another escalation of their support of jihadists. Don't know and will not pretend to know results of Russian-US, Russian-Syrian-iranian, US-Turkish and others negotiations on a subject and how they will affect future of region.

  11. Bring on Snow Crash baby! Life would be so much cooler if pizza guys were known as Deliberators and carried what's basically the equivalent of the noisy cricket from men in black to handle disputes and robbery attempts while clothed in fashionably designed shear thickening fluid impregnated ballistic, impact, and edge weaponry resistant armor under black leather while driving a purpose designed delivery vehicle that's part Bugatti veyron part the Lexus from minority report. All whilst dodging traffic consisting mostly of hybrid minivans colloquially referred to as bimbo boxes, and trying to avoid car surfing skateboard couriers with purpose designed equipment the Army Rangers would be jealous of! To include day and night capable hyperspectral imaging based night vision and a HUD display integrated into Sport sunglasses, skateboards with actively adaptive wheels that smooth out the ride over rough surfaces and allow gravity defying wall rides by virtue of gecko mode capable tweels on crack! As well as an antirape device involving high voltages and a Chinese finger trap like one way only preventers of unauthorized pussy grabbing! Oh and the coolest car surfing specific tool in the arsenal of the underage skateboard couriers.... THAT'S RIGHT!!! THE superconductive electromagnetic MAGNAPOON device which also integrates 10+ meters of ultrathin and strong cabling and an atlas ascender like powered reel... Perfect for all your car surfing needs, even allowing you to make the disposable and almost devoid of ferromagnetic alloys bimbo box your bitch! I mean, wtf can be cooler than something called magnapoon that uses superconductive electromagnets ultra high strength cable and a powered cable reel? Especially if your skateboard has gecko mode active suspension wheels that allow you to ride up the side of Jersey Barriers and slingshot maneuver yourself between traffic on 8 lane highways doing in excess of 80 mph? Oh that's right... The Yamaha tesseract cameo appearance years before the Yamaha tesseract's debut at an auto show and piloted by our intrepid protagonist... Hiro Protagonist! What's truly impressive is that dominoes is well on it's way to fulfilling several separate things from the book. 1. They get their delivery drivers robbed semiregularly through stunningly bad corporate policies. 2. There's now an actual Dominoes specific delivery vehicle. Granted, it's more bimbo box than deliverator but it's a start! 3. Uber is kinda close to underage skateboard couriers with gear an Army ranger would kill to have... Especially since several delivery based illegal and stolen gun selling as well as delivery based drug dealing operations have been busted already. Or, short answer... Yes shit is getting very dystopian future cyberpunk lately. PS: now all we need is a strung out on heroin dolphin hacker named Jones and a gang called the lo teks to start making the news and we're officially in "THE FUTURE"

  13. Seeing the conflicts in Syria, Iraq etc I got thinking about the weapons used. It seems like none of the weapons are truly intended for their intended purpose. Not only that, there are also lots of home made weapons. We're seeing ATGMs being fired at groups of people, people dual wielding AKs, drones with what seems to be 40mm grenades, home made rifle grenades, home made recoilless rifles etc. The list goes on and on. So your task is to design a weapon that will be the most effective in an insurgency role, like the Syrian and Iraqi* Civil War. It doesn't matter what type of weapon it is. It also doesn't matter for which side it is, insurgency or COIN. It can be a rifle, pistol, rocket launcher, tank, plane, helicopter, drone, you name it. Requirements: - None Requests: - Make it cheaper than weapons in the same category. Competition rules: - Submissions can be in text, 2D and/or 3D. What you submit must be enough to give the judges a good understanding of the weapon, how it's supposed to be used and how it's better than other weapons in the same category. - Judges will be looking for effectiveness compared to weapons in the same category and usefulness in an insurgency. Anyway, a competition like this should be open to everyone since it involves all weapon categories. With the other two contests I noticed that not everyone could take part because not everyone knows a lot about AFVs or small arms. But everyone here should know at least a thing or two about a single weapon system. I have money set aside for this and if there are no major complaints (and if @Sturgeon gives the okay-signal) I'll make a proper contest topic tomorrow. I'll be a judge (although I will submit something) but I'll need more judges, so those who are willing, step forward please (or if you have suggestions, go ahead). *I have no idea why the war vs ISIS is called a civil war.

    Explosive Reactive Armor

So the United Arab Emirates ordered German explosive reactive armor for ~125 million Euros. Does anybody know where this is going to be used? Maybe on the Leclerc or BMP-3? ___ Btw: Slovakian ERA from the T-72M2 Morderna:

  17. -There is hydrogen in Enceladus's plumes which implies there are hydrothermal vent(s) on its sea floor. This has gotten scientists excited because of the ecosystems around hydrothermal vents on Earth. -Hubble has observed multiple plumes in the same location on Europa, which would be an ideal location to sample water without a crazy drilling operation. There are also 'hotspots' on the surface of Europa which coincide with plume locations. -NASA people still suck at speaking to the public (and I need to take more time writing a post like this so I don't have to edit it multiple times).
