P/2016 BA14 (an asteroid which might possibly be a comet based on its orbital parameters) is going to pass .024 AU from Earth on March 13th. http://www.alpo-astronomy.org/cometblog/?p=1381

It'll stay pretty faint (but observable) if it doesn't show cometary activity, but if it does it could be pretty cool.

Alright, so 100 GW = 1*1011J/s. Applied for 10 minutes = 6*102 s gives you a total energy output of 6*1013 J. KE = mv2/2, if we set m = 100 kg, and cancel units, we get v = 1.1*107 m/s, which is about 3.7% of c. So pretty fast, but not relativistic, and that's assuming perfect energy conversion and no drag losses.

Also, when you're accelerating protons in the lab, you don't have to worry about turning them into paste by accelerating them too hard, you don't have to take your energy source with you, etc.

Stephen Hawking, Mark Zukerberg and Russian Billionaire Yuri Milner are planning to send probes to Alpha Centauri.

Not an achievement as of yet, but I'm glad to see rich and influential people pushing for more space exploration.
