Rule the Waves

Recommended Posts

Have you ever wanted a game that is like KSP for boats, but with terrible graphics? Rule the Waves  might be for you!

Design boats, some of which are probably going to be terrible!

Play as great naval powers from the early 20th century, such as:

  • US
  • UK
  • Germany
  • France
  • Russia
  • Japan
  • Austria-Hungary (?)
  • Italy (??)
  • Spain (???)
  • The Confederacy (????)

Sweet battle graphics!

Here's a copy of the manual: http://www.navalwarfare.net/files/SAI/RTW_MANUAL.pdf

Have at it.

Mixed caliber main armaments are generally a terrible idea (different trajectories, hard to distinguish shell splashes, probably some other reasons).

Also, that boat with a bazillion 8 inch guns displaces about the same as the South Carolina but with much less armor and a main battery that has much less penetration ability.

Battlecruisers are a mixed blessing. That kind with incredibly thin armor is bad because they tend to die. On the other hand a speed advantage is really nice for making the enemy let you pick off damaged stragglers or keep the fleet together and let you get another go. They can also counter enemies attempting that.

Also that thread is what got me going on ship design posts. So that's nice.

My germany game has gone weird places, I'm cracking 40,000 tons on my designs before 1910, and the resulting designs with the oil I got from the Sakhalins are absolute monsters but very limited in number.
