  1. I kinda perfer War Thunders method of gift vehicles in that you get a random one out of 4 or 5

Sure you can end up with a shitty one, and cry that your free tank from playing a free tank game isnt competitive, but all a unarmored low pen high DPM medium at tier 5 is going to due is make thugs like me dust off my account and up my damage ratio in the KV-1 by a couple of double digits

He-51 float-plane is best plane even just for sheer novelty of participating in the float event with a German plane.

anything is better than yet another Fucking glorified machine gun carrier

The T7 Combat Car is actually pretty decent now after they buffed its speed and they changed the T18 from a seal club tank destroyer to an SPG.

  2. My impression of WoT has soured quite a bit today. For some insane reason I figured I could try to get the T-22sr. After waiting a combined 8 minutes to get into a "rampage" match, I was treated to instant death by TK 3 times in a row, courtesy of the unicums who had all counted in together to farm achievements.

I can't even get rampage mode to find a game on the Asia server.

  3. It sounds similar to an assessment the Soviet military did.

I can think of a few explanations; if you look at the link above, compare the Leo 1 vs the Leo1A4.

The only difference of importance between the two is the presence of the PERI R12 thermal imager.

Post-Soviet tank salesmen may have poo-pooed the importance of thermal optics vice gen III image intensifiers, but that's just because they were trying to make a buck.  In the Cold War the Soviets knew perfectly well what a big edge they were.

The difference isn't as pronounced with the Leo 1A1 and 1A4, considering they also differ by the improved turret armour. The stabilizer seems to be the larger factor to them.

  4. Ding ding ding, we have a winner.

Having two "primary" MBT is fine (consider M60 and M1, Leo1 and Leo 2, etc) having three is just stupid, especially if:

Well it doesn't look quite as ridiculous when comparing NATO to the Warsaw Pact as a whole.

NATO members didn't quite succeed in developing a standard tank through Europanzer, MBT-70, or MBT-80 (Why they always collaborated with the Germans is beyond me). It's three tanks vs Leo 2, M1, Challenger 1/2, AMX-30/56, and maybe the Ariete.

  5. I don't feel this question quite warrants its own thread, but is there any quick way to tell apart the T-72, T-80, and T-90 apart from eachother?  The T-80 I know usually has different looking road wheels, the exhaust is on the other side, and the driver has 3 periscopes, but otherwise I'm not feeling very smart.

Sort of like the Sherman variants, they're a lot easier to tell apart looking at their engine decks and rears than they are from the front.

T-64 has a wide rectangular exhaust.

T-64 also has upright flaps on the rear with the intakes located at the front of the engine deck.

T-80 has a narrower centered exhaust.

T-80's intake is towards the front of the engine deck when it isn't covered by the turret filter.

T-72 has a removable rear port and no exhaust.(Earlier T-72s also had single pin tracks.)

T-72 Intakes are located towards the rear of the engine deck.

T-80UD has an engine deck similar to that of the T-64.
