  1. Promises made. Promises kept. https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2019/03/caliphate-eliminated-syria-isis-islamic-state-baghouz.html It is another telling reminder how warped the mainstream media and culture is in the US that the signature foreign policy question of the past decade, “How to defeat ISIS?” has been answered by the current Administration to almost no fanfare.
  2. EVERY news outlet is reporting that Mueller is recommending no indictments. https://www.politico.com/story/2019/03/22/mueller-will-not-be-recommending-any-further-indictments-in-russia-probe-1233070
  3. Didn’t we already go through this “every soldier is a ranger” nonsense when whatsis face forced everyone in the Army to start wearing a black beret?
  4. RIP my MySpace account. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2019/mar/18/myspace-loses-all-content-uploaded-before-2016 Some have questioned how the embattled company, which was purchased by Time Inc in 2016, could make such a blunder. “I’m deeply sceptical this was an accident,” wrote the web expert Andy Baio. “Flagrant incompetence may be bad PR, but it still sounds better than, ‘We can’t be bothered with the effort and cost of migrating and hosting 50m old MP3s.’” Myspace initially claimed the deletion was a temporary error, with customer support staff telling one user: “I have been informed the issue will be fixed.” But by July last year it was publicly acknowledging that no such fix was forthcoming.
  5. Archeologists dig up clues about the lives of ancient humans by studying the tools and piles of trash they left behind. Now, it turns out they can do the same thing with another species of skilled tool users in the midst of their own "Stone Age" — sea otters. https://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/sea-otter-animal-archeology-stone-tools-1.4792446 Tinker said video observations showed the otters were holding the shells in a very precise way as they pounded. "Right before they hit the rock, they slightly twist the shell so that their right hand is the one that's really smashing it on the rock," he said. The finding suggests that most otters — like most humans — are right handed.
  6. *sigh* The trolling continues... https://www.nydailynews.com/news/ny-news-new-zealand-mosque-shooter-court-appearance-20190315-story.html Brenton Tarrant, 28, was marched into court wearing handcuffs and a white prison jumpsuit and made an “OK” sign with his fingers, according to a photo published by the New Zealand Herald.
  7. Nah. They'll just go the Egyptian/French route of giving their rulers all the same name. Her Benevolent and Serene Majesty, Queen Nancy Pelosi the VIII of the Dianetic People's Republic of California.
  8. This whole ordeal has been an example of the previous Administration and rogue agents in the Federal government getting away with abuses of power so egregious that the Nixon Administration or J. Edgar Hoover would blush at in embarrassment.
  9. I agree. I've been gameplanning some California scum vehicles!
  10. Former Vice President Joe Biden has been leading every Democratic Presidential poll and is likely to make an announcement in April. He's regarded as a "moderate" Democratic who can bring the Democratic Party back to centrist politics in order to beat President Trump. So OF COURSE the long knives have been coming out for him. CNN has done unprecedented political reporting by actually researching - or looking up on Wikipedia at least - congressional testimony of then Sen. Biden supporting a Democratic President's crime bill. https://www.cnn.com/2019/03/07/politics/biden-1993-speech-predators/index.html Shameful. Just shameful. And here's handwringing over Biden opposing busing and reparations for slavery, two positions which are also conventionally popular and - of course - anathema to the Left. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2019/mar/8/joe-bidens-1975-comments-slamming-slavery-reparati/
  11. Lee Van Cleef is the "grandfather skipping rocks". And I believe this is from one of the Cannonball Run sequels. Amirite @Walter_Sobchak
  12. Here is a pretty good thumbnail sketch about how the 2020 Democratic Presidential Primary could play, especially with the new rules regulating Super Delegates. https://prospect.org/article/heres-how-democratic-presidential-nomination-will-go So let’s now imagine what happens in our three-way race if Harris, Sanders, and Candidate B emerge as the leaders from the primaries, but none has a majority, which forces the convention to go to a second ballot. If any one of these candidates is close to a majority, the superdelegates voting on the second ballot may decide the nomination. Indeed, it might be hard for the superdelegates to deny the nomination to a candidate who has won a plurality of the votes and has a significant lead in delegates over the others (this is most likely how Sanders could emerge as the nominee). If, however, the top candidates are bunched closely together and the superdelegates give the nomination to Harris or Candidate B, Sanders and his supporters may claim the party has cheated him a second time and the outcome is illegitimate—a nightmare for Democrats, who want to go into the general election united.
  13. Things keep getting worse on Knife Crime Island Brexit has turned me into a prepper I’d never stockpiled anything in my life, until the likelihood of a no-deal Brexit loomed. https://www.vox.com/the-goods/2019/3/6/18253260/brexit-prepper-stockpiling-goods-eu While in the European Union, Britain benefits from more than 750 international treaties, meaning we can trade freely with not just the EU but also more than 40 other countries. It’s like canceling a gym membership: When you are no longer a member, you can no longer use the treadmill. With each passing day it’s more likely that there will be no deal, and the warnings have come thick and fast: we could run out of nurses, bike parts, insulin, fuel, cheese, toilet paper, and body bags.
  14. Just shared this with Mrs. the Captain. And the wretched bird is peering over my shoulder as I type.
  15. Knife Crime Island is the official Sturgeon's House codename for the theater of operations that comprises the British Isles.
  16. Knife crime island transitioning to Fap crime island? https://nypost.com/2019/03/05/the-uk-is-about-to-make-it-harder-to-watch-porn/ Beginning early next month, X-rated sites like PornHub and YouPorn will be required to obtain birthday information from UK residents before they can view smut by using an online age verification system, or buying a special ID card
  17. I did not know that Pakistan had blind hockey players. Although the mentally challenged civilians seem a pretty steady demographic.
  18. Getting this thread warmed back up again! Vietnam deports Kim Jong Un impersonator ahead of summit https://nypost.com/2019/02/25/vietnam-deports-kim-jong-un-impersonator-ahead-of-summit/ Howard X, whose real name is Lee Howard Ho Wun and lives in Hong Kong, was deported because officials said his visa was “invalid.” He said he received no further explanation — and claims he was kicked out of Vietnam because the real Kim has “no sense of humor.” “The real reason is I was born with a face looking like Kim Jong Un, that’s the real crime,” said Howard X.
  19. It’s looking more and more like the Dems are trying to recreate 1972 or 1984 with their election futility. As if it weren’t bad enough already, the 2020 Dem primaries are going to be a stampede to the Left.
  20. Old Man Yells at Cloud https://www.npr.org/2019/02/19/676923000/bernie-sanders-enters-2020-presidential-campaign-no-longer-an-underdog And decides to run for President again.
