  1. Bash the F-35 thred.

Somewhere in the vicinity of North Korea right now?
  2. [Collimatrix here, I'm splitting this off and doing something I should have done a long time ago, which is have a thread dedicated to terror attacks and active shooters. News updates, professional analysis, that sort of thing. I know that these events are always very emotional and shocking, but let's try to keep it reasonable and level-headed. AEarly reports are usually godawful wrong. The whole truth may not come out for months. Anyone who tries to make a political point before the blood has congealed is a jackass.] So apparently there was a mass shooting in Las Vegas on the strip that just happened. We'll have to wait until useful information begins to trickle in and for 24-48 hours to go by before the false reports get corrected. Edit: The shaky mobile phone cam footage "sounds" kind of like automatic weapons fire. That is just a wild guess on my part. See second line.
  3. What are we playing?

Wish there were more (any?) modern turn based wargame/strategy games.
  4. Syrian conflict.

Not exactly crack infantry tactics displayed there. Also those tracers going off during the execution...
  5. I'm actually coming at it from my sojourn in the real estate appraising world. There are tens of millions of 30-30 lever actions out there in circulation and - jokes about white tail needing .338 Winmag as minimum aside - the last time I checked 30-30 will turn a deer or a burglar into wormfood just fine. ... ... Or WILL IT???
  6. The more interesting thing to me is that Ruger is smart by offering this as compatible with mini-30 magazines rather than yet another one-off proprietary mag. Also the barrel being threaded for a silencer which is nice. But hey, Ruger makes good guns which is why my EDC is a Ruger. ... Also somebody doesn't understand the technical term of "obsolete" or else is trying to get my GTO.
  7. The case keeps getting weirder and weirder.
  8. Since we don't have a general, all purpose archaeology topic, let this be a repository for all matters involving the science which has been made cool by whip-cracking, mummy-fighting, big-breasted, relic-hunting adventurers. And the real life stuff that is far more interesting.

    It is of joke, Tovarisch
  10. The day may come in the not too distant future when humanity will become enslaved by their new robot overlords. But it isn't today!

  12. The Enema Thread (Moderator: Tied)

250,000 Americans self-identify as furries; about 1 in every 1,500 people. http://nypost.com/2017/10/14/inside-the-weird-world-of-the-furry-fetish/ 2/3s are men, many of whom are in the tech/IT industry. *Insert drunken, incoherent rant from the Ghost of Tied here*

Ah the UN. The late night party where one dude is buying all the booze, blow, and hookers for everyone but still gets shit on by the rest of the guests.
  14. I see nothing wrong with this picture (unless not being a quad mount counts as wrong)
  15. Democrats would still be more triggered that Jim Webb admitted to killing a Viet Cong soldier.
  16. Perhaps they should rethink that whole circumcision thing? ... ... It is clearly the only thing different in those cultures...
  17. I would not at all be surprised if her chances would have been better had she divorced Bubba back in 1998...

Am I the only one who is bemused over the nonstop coverage of Hollywood producer Harvey Whatsisfuck and the SHOCKING allegation that Hollywood starlets are preyed on sexually by studio big shots? The practice has only been going on for over a century (and before that on Broadway, etc). And don't get me wrong, the guy should be sued and prosecuted if possible. I'm just sort of amazed at how it is overshadowing real news stories like Las Vegas, Puerto Rico, Houston, Florida, Santa Rosa fires, North Korea... Holy hell media, you were out guns ablazing that Trump hated brown people in Puerto Rico and - instantly - it isn't a story anymore. Which leads me to believe that either the recovery efforts there are doing well, or CNN, MSNBC, New York Times et al don't think that the plight of brown people is newsworthy, at least not compared to 10-20 year old stories about casting couch exploits of a producer and female celebrities.
  19. DAFUQ? Why would hotels offer that as a perk? Are there that many dead hookers needing of disposing in Las Vegas?
  20. I'm wondering if the security guard was responding to the noise of this guy setting up? Drilling that hole? Breaking window glass?
  21. Things just got weird again with this case.
  22. I Learned Something Today

TIL: The neurotic parrot we inherited from my late sister-in-law likes the song "Pursuit of the Pimpmobile" by Isaac Hayes...
  23. So the UK Daily Mail is reporting an anonymous call girl whom the shooter frequented described him as a 9/11 Truther and conspiracy theorist who thought the whole thing was an inside job by the government. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4959970/Vegas-prostitute-says-Stephen-Paddock-enjoyed-violent-sex.html Finally! Something about this event that makes sense. BTW, LOL at the current Internet conspiracies claiming the Las Vegas shooting was an inside job by the government...
