I thought this looked like Forged in Fire, and sure enough was. Apparently the gimmick of this Veteran's Day episode was that the contestants had to 'salvage' parts of the tank to make a knife. Insert joke about knives' quality here. To someone's credit at least, it seems (to me) as though they were going more specifically for a late Panzer IV ausf. D here.

No info regarding the photo. However, we can assume it's between 1987 and 2007, given the service entry date of the K1 and the exit of the M47. I want to say it's probably on the earlier side of that date range.

Are then any numbers around concerning SAA and (T)FSA troop totals that are active outside Aleppo?
-
I assumed you meant that, especially since we've seen photos of T-90s operating in the area recently, but I wasn't sure if 'fresh' was directed toward the tank or the photo.
-
Was this a recent acquisition or one they've been holding onto?
-
I'm curious as well. I don't have too much expertise here, but maybe it's to signify aircraft that it has flown missions with?

Welp. Images can still be seen in the first link.

United States Military Vehicle General: Guns, G*vins, and Gas Turbines
Scolopax replied to Tied's topic in Mechanized Warfare
The thing has got quite the lift there over the original Bradley. I'm assuming that's it in the high end of what it can adjust to. Is this system equivalent or the same as what is on the Griffin III demonstrator? -
Modern Tank Destroyers / Gun Carriers

That looks to me to be a 120mm gun on that as opposed to a 105mm.- 160 replies

General artillery, SPGs, MLRS and long range ATGMs thread.
Scolopax replied to LoooSeR's topic in Mechanized Warfare
How does the 2S43 that's in development fit into the scheme of things? I'd figure two 152mm-armed wheeled SPGs could be redundant, but the Msta and Koalitsiya are different guns with different mountings here. I see they're using a Kamaz for the Koalitsiya, so I guess we need to get our jokes ready again. That turret and gun seem like it should weigh more than the Pantsir AA arrangement.- 1,907 replies

I was kind of expecting that to turn out way worse, but that's still a big yikes. Someone's going to be sitting behind a desk for a while if they're lucky.

Nope, they're tiny little things, which makes them all that more amazing to me with all the detail put into them. All scratch built too.

This one is a little interesting for the fact that it's an X1A. They've basically taken it back along the line of Stuart evolution, but not all the way since they stopped at the M5 and not the M3 like what the X1A was based on. Build here is I kind of enjoy the look of that hodgepodge Japanese tank in the first post

Not too bad for it apparently being a mostly scratch build.

Vehicles of the PLA: Now with refreshing new topic title!
Scolopax replied to Khand-e's topic in Mechanized Warfare
I recall this getting posted in here a while back. So it's an APC and not a dedicated breacher vehicle, or perhaps it is somewhere in the middle and carries engineers? -
Saudi Arabia to begin operations in Yemen
Scolopax replied to Priory_of_Sion's topic in Open Discussion
There must have been a hefty sum of Saudi money the Sudanese were receiving to send that many troops over.
