Oh I will laugh and laugh when someone finally gets around to testing a historically accurate mongol bow and longbow side by side, only to have the former just blow away the latter in terms of penetration...

Is that like the AK versus AR debate in the gun world? :P

  2. Nice thing about tanks, is you don't need an airbrush, and the weathering can be used to hide brush strokes in the paint.

My best tip for brush painting, get good brushes, not cheap hobby-store stuff, go to an art-store, buy good brushes an actual painter would use.

Tanks are big, rusty, beat up hunks of steel, so they should look a little sloppy.

In other news: I used the lockdown to get proficient at thumb draw, broke all my old bows shooting in the winter, made a new red oak longbow and am now splitting time between it and a cheap compound (turns out that lefties can shoot a right-handed bow using thumb draw).

Did you guys have a crazy toilet paper shortage too?

  4. While packing today, for tomorows  move I came across a folder, and found a bunch of papers from when my Dad was in the Navy.   It also had this photo from VF-121. 121 was the pacific fleet RAG, or the squadron that taught Phantom Pilots how to fly the fleet way, pilots would spend 3 to 6 months in the RAG before getting sent to a VF in a Carriers Air Wing.

The Computer and Scanner are still hooked up so I scanned it.

Great gallery taken in May 1945 around a place where I was born. German planes on Vysoké Mýto and Skuteč airfield, some destroyed (by retreating troops), two Bf-109 were even captured functional and flown by partisan commander, soviet captain Ivanov. Pity the Me-323 Giants were destroyed later :(

Another photos related to the Giants of Skuteč (6 were there in May 1945 out of 11 total in Czechoslovakia). Check photo No.8 and further. A Me-323 wing structure preserved till today serving as a bell tower :D

I believe Skuteč and Chrudim airfields could have been the last German ones to handle combat missions in the WW2. I think that planes from there were bombing Prague till 7th May.

Cool galleries. It always strikes me how much German stuff looks like garbage.  Even stuff like the 262 looks barely above Madmax level craftsmanship.

  6. I have another big batch to post.

Some more crossing the line stuff.

This one seems to be some other event, not the line crossing.

I think this one is from Yokohama.

    More Yokohama?

Since it looks like one of those Sailors is carrying a Pioneer box, I'm guessing Yokohama again.
