barbaria
That running gear looks quite flimsy for such a big IFV. When it drove of the ramp with low speed, the front sprockets hit the ground. I wouldn't want to imagine what would happen at higher speeds. This amphibious race will either be very fun or very boring to watch... Yes, all teams will be using Chinese vehicles. Soldier in that video noted that a lot of systems inside are "very similar to ours".

Generally somewhat similar to BMP-3 Quote It is claimed that front arc withstands 30-mm armor-piercing rounds. Sides withstand 14.5-mm rounds. /.../ It is believed that the front chassis of the Type 04A can defend 30 mm armor-piercing incendiary within 1,000 meters and both sides can defend 14.5 mm armor-piercing incendiary within 200 meters. BMP-3 Quote The frontal armor can withstand the impact of projectiles with a caliber of 30 mm from a distance of 200 meters. The roof and sides withstand a bullet B-32 with a caliber of 12.7 mm from a distance of 100-200 meters. Note - type of 30 mm projectile that BMP-3 armor can withstand is unknown. Note - type of 30 mm projectile that BMP-3 armor can withstand is unknown. there was some discussion on the Otvaga forum about BMP-3's protection, starting with this message (and then going for more than an entire page,) which says that it's frontal armor can withstand 30mm 2A42's AP from 300m at +-40 degrees, and side armor can withstand 7,62 B-32 from 0 m at 90 deg, and it seems like BMP-3's sides without additional armor are protected against 12.7 B-32 at some distance - only at angles that are much smaller than 90 deg. BTW, it has been claimed https://imgur.com/a/2Ua7OkE that to withstand 12.7mm B-32 from 100m at 90 degrees one needs 70mm thick layer of same ABT-102 as BMP-3 has (and it is known that it's side armor only 43mm thick). LoooSeR
Well, ZBD-04A still have roughly level of protection of BMP-3, nothing spectacularly different.

I dont even understand why these are used, maybe marketing? In the same concept, it can be concluded that the M-60A1 is protected vs 125mm guns... There are huge differences between 30mm projectiles, ranging from the very underpowered 3UBR6 (which is significantly weaker than some then-contemporary 20mm projectiles) to the very powerful APFSDS of the MK30 for example. Exact type of gun and ammunition is needed to evaluate protection.
