Donward 3,054 Report post Posted September 23, 2018 The number of US servicemembers to be positively identified from the repatriated remains returned by North Korea is now two. https://nypost.com/2018/09/22/first-photos-of-2-identified-korean-war-soldiers-released/ So this should probably put to bed the rumor that the Norks had purposefully fobbed off a bunch of phony remains on the gullible Americans. Donward 3,054 Report post Posted October 8, 2018 U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Monday North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was ready to allow international inspectors into the North’s nuclear and missile testing sites, one of the main sticking points over an earlier denuclearization pledge. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-northkorea-nuclear-pompeo/north-koreas-kim-jong-un-says-talks-with-pompeo-productive-and-wonderful-kcna-idUSKCN1MH114 1 Ramlaen reacted to this
Alzoc 167 Report post Posted November 27, 2018 Official at the French senate arrested on suspicion that he transferred confidential informations to NK Quote Benoît Quennedey has been arrested by the DGSI this sunday (11/25) on suspicion that he leaked confidential informations to NK. The man is known to have strong ties with the country and to be rather admirative of the regime. He was often invited on RT France where he was presented as an expert on international relations. His office has been searched and investigation is in progress, to determine whether or not he really transmitted confidential informations or if he is just an admirer of the regime. LoooSeR 6,118 Report post Posted December 21, 2018 Quote Hong Kong. December 20. Interfax - North Korea will not unilaterally renounce nuclear weapons until the United States is the first to stop threatening the Korean Peninsula, the Associated Press reported on Thursday, citing a statement released by the Korean Central Telegraph Agency (CTLC). "The United States must understand the exact meaning of the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and must learn geography. If we are talking about the Korean Peninsula, then we include in this concept the territory of our republic and the entire region (South Korea - IF), where United States placed their invading forces and nuclear weapons, " the statement said. "When we talk about the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, it means that we are talking about eliminating all nuclear threats, not only coming from the South and the North, but also from areas adjacent to the Korean Peninsula," it says. 1 Toxn reacted to this

Sgt.Squarehead 103 Report post Posted January 23 This probably won't help negotiations much: Quote Noting that missile bases would presumably have to be part of any agreement committing North Korea to “complete, verifiable, and irreversible” denuclearisation, Cha warned: “The North Koreans are not going to negotiate over things they don’t disclose. It looks like they’re playing a game. They’re still going to have all this operational capability” even if they destroy their disclosed nuclear facilities. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/jan/22/north-korea-secret-missile-hq-uncovered-as-nuclear-summit-nears Kim's a sneaky little fucker, & that's a fact. Xlucine 330 Report post Posted January 23 More lazy reporting https://www.38north.org/2018/11/lsigal111318/ (Old rebuttal, but the grauniad report is practically the same as the NYT article they were responding to) Once Kim agrees to declare their nuclear sites, then that'll be worth reporting - having operational capability isn't breaching any agreements. Donward 3,054 Report post Posted February 26 Getting this thread warmed back up again! Vietnam deports Kim Jong Un impersonator ahead of summit https://nypost.com/2019/02/25/vietnam-deports-kim-jong-un-impersonator-ahead-of-summit/ Howard X, whose real name is Lee Howard Ho Wun and lives in Hong Kong, was deported because officials said his visa was “invalid.” He said he received no further explanation — and claims he was kicked out of Vietnam because the real Kim has “no sense of humor.” “The real reason is I was born with a face looking like Kim Jong Un, that’s the real crime,” said Howard X. 1 Lord_James reacted to this

LoooSeR 6,118 Report post Posted March 15 Quote The leadership of North Korea is considering the likelihood of suspension of negotiations on denuclearization with the United States. This was reported by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK Choi Son-Hee, reports TASS. According to her, Pyongyang does not intend to make concessions to the US requirements, as well as to conduct such negotiations. The diplomat said that the leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un, will soon make an official appeal on this issue. /.../ The second meeting was held in Vietnam on February 27–28, 2019. Negotiations ended two hours before the due time. According to their results, the parties did not reach specific agreements and did not sign a joint statement. On March 6, it became known that the DPRK began restoring the Sohe proving ground, from which it had previously launched intercontinental ballistic missiles. A few days later, reconnaissance satellites recorded that North Korea might be preparing to launch a rocket or satellite - the images revealed activities on the territory of the Sanumdon military research center near Pyongyang.
