Belesarius
Haiti is so fucked. That big blob off to the north east quadrant of the hurricane is apparently dropping rain at the rate of an inch an hour. FUUUUUUUUCK. Lost, this is still that 'double barrel' feature that you and I were talking about a day or so ago. It's still persisting, and hasn't been eaten by the main body of the hurricane. Just goes to show how weird and chaotic weather systems are...
SergeantMatt
Latest models aren't looking good.
Belesarius
Yeah FL and NC Gov's have both declared emergencies. I'm kinda expecting a cone shift on the 5PM advisory.
LostCosmonaut
Buncha people about to get CONED. edit: yep This is just me talking out my ass, but it looks like there's a chance it could do a repeat of Irene '11. Also, microwave imagery suggests an EWRC is ongoing. Hopefully it won't complete before land interaction disrupts the core.
Belesarius
Yeah, the cone changed...

LostCosmonaut
Recon's currently in system, pressure down to 934mb with windfield massively expanded. EWRC appears complete at the worst possible time.
Belesarius
Things in Haiti are looking pretty grim from what I've read. And holy hell... massive wind field.
Belesarius
Pressure went up 10mb but windspeeds stayed up near 145mph despite interaction with the large mountain on the tip of Haiti. This storm just keeps not doing what it is supposed to do. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/refresh/MIATCPAT4+shtml/041503.shtml
Belesarius
Back down to 949mb already, right after going over a 7000ft mountain. Holy hell. Edit: Eye is clearing out and already trying to Stadium up again around the eyewall.

Belesarius
Eye is about to very briefly go for a visit to Cuba, then on to Bermuda.
Belesarius
Eye got pretty roughed up by the tip (Just the tiiip) of Cuba. But still looking pretty well organized. That being said we're getting a weird loop effect on several models, and it's freaking people on WUnderground right the fuck out.

LostCosmonaut
Very concerned, apparently the VAB is only rated to 114 mph. This is what it looked like after 2004;
Belesarius
Also they still haven't apparently fully cleaned up from the SpaceX 'splosion as the investigation is still ongoing.
LostCosmonaut
Last recon (around 10-11) found 936 in the center. Dropping at about 1-1.5 mb/hr.
Belesarius
938mb. Cat 3, down from 4 thank the gods. Still might have extensive damage at the Cape, but I'm hopeful it won't be catastrophic. Tampa and Cape Coral (Where former VPG/TP peoples are) looks to be dealing with heavy rain and Tropical Storm force winds. They can handle that, thankfully. Very glad to be dealing with a low end Cat 3 vs a high end Cat 4.
