Today's Warspot article is going to explode some wehraboo anuses: http://warspot.ru/1559-chya-kaska-byla-luchshe

Loooser can laugh about it now, everyone else will have to wait until I translate it (it will skip the queue because lol) but the TL;DR is that German WWII era helmets were a hell of a lot worse than Soviet helmets of the same era, including ones made with cost-reduced wartime steel.

Wow!  I'm honestly surprised that anyone would consistently screw up a helmet.

Is it a case of dodgy wartime German metallurgy again?

"Thermal imaging sight IT-615 (VM)". In other words, we have a high-quality night sight of domestic manufacture, "sharpened" for use by combat swimmers. At the latter hints and the abbreviation "VM", i.e. military-naval (Voenno-morskoy).

.....

The device can be used not only with AK, SVD or Pecheneg, but also with a 12 mm Kord machine gun and even an RPG-29 Vampire. IT-615 (VM) has the ability to adjust to four profiles with interchangeable parameters. This allows you to use a given sight on up to four weapons, then rearrange the sight from gun to another in any order, without losing the opportunity to conduct effective shooting. After installing the sight, instead of the new adjustment and zeroing, it is enough to use a profile, stored in the device's memory, corresponding to the weapon. Working distance of the sight is within 800 meters.
IT-615 (VM) is shockproof, ergonomic, sealed, compact, silent, has an intuitive menu and protection from fogging. The overwhelming majority of the sight units are made in Russia. Among the foreign components used in the device are a thermal imaging matrix and a display. At the request of the customer, the sight can be completed with either a dovetail-type fastener or a Picatinny bar.
On tests IT-615 (VM) confirmed its ability to work after diving to a depth of 25 meters. Now military are checking the sight at a depth of 40 meters.
