Belesarius
Portrait of Soviet Guards Sgt. Alexey G. Frolchenko, late of the 325th “Dvina” Rifle Division, carrying his PPSh-41 submachine gun. ''Late" because the 325th, formed in August 1941, had been largely bled white by the Spring of 1943 and, merging with two similarly decimated brigades, was fleshed out to become the newly reformed 90th Guards Rifle Division just before Kursk (and survived until disban...ded in 2001 as the 90th Guards Vitebsko-Novgorodskaya twice Red Banner Tank Division). As for Frolchenko, he was awarded the Order of the Red Star for bravery at the Battle of Kursk while leading a scout detachment. Receiving a battlefield promotion to Lieutenant, Alexey finished the war as a Captain leading a company in East Prussia and died in his sleep at age 62 in 1967.(Image taken by Anatoly Arkhipov near Belgorod, Belgorod Oblast, Russia, Soviet Union. Collimatrix
G36 as presented by Univision. If by that you mean an AR-15, SIG-550 and SCAR stitched together to sorta look like a G-36, with an Aztec snakey on the side then sure. A look at automatic pistols when nobody had a clue how they were supposed to work, because Browning hadn't shown them yet: H/T Tam

Indeed. A few years back when I was more idealistic and full of unwarranted optimism towards the firearms industry I called the Mexican Directorate of Military Industry to try and get some information on the FX05 (saying I was a journalist trying to write a piece on Mexico's new domestic rifle). The clerk heard my gringo Spanish accent and transferred me to somebody who told me kindly to pound sand. Getting much information on that rifle proved to be very difficult, and I have never seen one before on my trips to Mexico (you still see clapped out G3s). Alex C.
Yes, I have read that piece and it is essentially what you turn up in most places. Which is "it kind of looks like a G36, but that's pretty much all we know. Oh, but it doesn't work like a G36." Even the Spanish sources I have read are quite terrible, and I have never been able to find any details about trialing the gun, accounts of Ordnance (how long before stuff like this usually becomes public info in the US/Europe?), or even feedback from users. Also, Mexico's patent site does turn up some info: http://siga.impi.gob.mx/content/common/busquedaSimple.jsf Search for: PA/A/2006/007961 Other pertinent documents: http://vidoc.impi.gob.mx/ViDoc/visor.do?Param=SIGA$PA$E$PA/a/2006/007961 D.E. Khand-e
You should interview a Cartel kingpin, they probably have more then the Mexican armed forces at this point.

Gas piston appears to be a Saive-type short stroke, probably cloned from the FAL. Trigger group looks AR-based.
