The interdepartmental commission recognized the product as suitable for mass production and recommended that it be named “9 mm Kalashnikov PPK-20 submachine gun” to perpetuate the memory of Viktor Mikhailovich Kalashnikov. When performing the development work, the serially produced Vityaz-SN submachine gun was adopted as the base. At the development stage, the feedback given during the serial production of the product were taken into account and the design and composition of the product were brought in accordance with the requirements of the tactical and technical task. In the Kalashnikov submachine gun, the ergonomics of the weapon and the equipment attached to it have been significantly improved, the reliability of the product has been increased, and a low-noise firing device has been introduced into its kit.
