This is an absolutely groundbreaking revelation. We've known this all along of course. But to have it finally proven simply shatters whatever is left the Special Counsel's credibility.

Jeff Sessions and the Justice Department needs to begin investigating this, questioning every member of the Special Counsel under oath along with previous members of the Obama Administration.

It looks like Trump is following through with yet another campaign promise in regards to moving the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/05/world/middleeast/american-embassy-israel-trump-move.html

That's if we're to believe the leaks to the press.

As I've noted earlier, you don't see very many articles anymore in the mainstream or conservative media that Trump is just faking it on his political positions and campaign promises in order to dupe the voters, that he's secretly a New York liberal Democrat.

Trump just might be the first occupant in the White House in two generations who actually believes in what he says (for good or ill depending on your political persuasion).

I think this is actually true, and I feel pretty pessimistic about the whole enchilada.

The stuff about all the top level FBI people being corrupt cunts that let the hildabeast walk really has me pissed off. At the corrupt FBI assholes, Comey, Meuler, the Storzk guy, also the press for basically doing zero investigating while Obama was in office, while sucking his dick and acting like he did anything worthwhile, and Obama admin for being both corrupt as fuck as and incompetent. Throw the democrats in for abandoning the first amendment to embrace identity politics, group thing and socialism while fucking over  health care, and I don't think I've ever been as disgusted with politics as I am now.  The republican mainstream guys are no better, hell the democrats have trained them to be polite losers with no fight, so fuck them too!

You would let them off too if you didn't want to off yourself with two gunshots to the back of your head

So, Trump has done gone and pissed of Erdogan.  Why has he done this?

I think we shouldn't rule out the possibility that Trump did this just because watching Erdogan froth impotently is funny.  This is a perfectly respectable reason to do anything, and I would consider this decision a sound one if that's all Trump stood to gain from his decision.

But Trump tends to behave in a very transactional way.  He seemed to flip-flop a lot on Twitter in how he addressed Xi Jinping when North Korea was causing trouble.  It seems likely that if Trump does something nice publicly, it's part of a quid pro quo that was agreed on behind closed doors.

So, what do the Israelis have that Trump wants?  Information on their Saudi partners?  Some sort of concessions on Syria?

It's a campaign promise kept to his base.

Conservatives dig Israel. A lot of Evangelicals dig Israel and its very fashionable among Protestants that America and Israel will be standing side-by-side when Jesus returns and Judgment day comes about. *shrug* I have a hardcore liberal who is my cousin who is religious and works for a well known religious charity and she's on Facebook celebrating this move because it's going to speed up the time when Jesus comes back to gather his flock. Franklin Graham, Billy Graham's son, did a LOT of heavy lifting for the Trump Campaign in 2016 convincing Evangelicals to vote Trump.

A lot #NeverTrump Republicans dig Israel. Folks like National Review and Weekly Standard are dry-humping their William F. Buckley hug pillows, they are so excited over this deal. These are the conservative intellectuals who literally wanted Hillary to win because they thought it would be better for Republican Party to stay pure rather than be tainted by a deplorable like Trump and now the President has them eating out of his hand. Somewhere between 5 and 20 percent of the Republican Party - from state to state - didn't vote Trump in 2016. If he can get half to three-quarters of them back on board in 2020, he wins in a landslide. We have less than a year before the 2018 midterms and this solidifies a base that is kind of pessimistic about the behavior of the GOP Congress.

And all Trump had to do was... nothing. He allowed legislation that was passed during the Clinton Administration finally become law. Certainly there were talks with Netanyahu and other players in the region. And the only drawbacks are, what? The Palestinians will have a Day of Rage? Yeah, they have that every day. What, is ISIS going to engage in terror attacks against us over this? Will the Iranians hate us ever more over this?

As for Turkey or any other Arab/muslim country upset over this and threatening this or that. Trump's crossed a "Red Line". Oh noes! Waily, waily.

What's Turkey gonna do? Quit NATO?

Don't discount that yet.  Turkey is moving in the direction of becoming a Russian client state.

I suppose you could look at as a straightforward checkmark in a box on a list of campaign promises.  Thing is, Trump has a certain... comedic timing in how he does these things.

Setup:  Try to pass restrictions on immigration from several predominantly Muslim countries.  Eventually get Supreme Court to approve these restrictions.

Punchline:  As soon at pundits are raving about how this is unfair and discriminatory and Muslims have a long history of integrating into the USA just fine, do something that is guaranteed to spark Muslim anger, and for reasons that the majority of Americans will not be able to empathize with.
