Ulric
AKS-74K facelift. The new parts of the Polish pistol grip, and Wz.78 Pallad compatible forearm. Finding a phenolic resin gas tube cover is tricky. From what I can tell, only the Bulgarians made them for their milled AK-47 clones. However, I kind of like it the way it is. Oedipus Wreckx-n-Effect
Hey, I've touched that thing. Also from the same night. Got my still-broken rifle back together. The quick stain job cleaned it up a little bit, which is nice. Not perfect, but it doesn't have to be. Now if Numrich would hurry the hell up with my firing pin, that's be greeaaat. Donward
And by seeing that empty box which once contained Organic Spinach, I know that Oedipus has once shopped at Costco. Oh yeah, nice job.

Oh yeah, nice job. Gonna have to talk to Ulric about that. That's his thing. I'm far too trashy to shop at costco. Sturgeon

roguetechie
I love the look of the Pallad handguard, and suddenly feel much less bad about this maadi I'm about to do a new receiver for because the current one has a bend in it that I don't even want to know the origin of... Considering that the bend is diagonal, starts around 1 inch forward of rear trunnion and .125 inches from the bottom of receiver. Extends forwards and upwards to midpoint of magazine well and about .25 inches from the top of receiver. Has the look of a bend made by a press and jig with attempt made to bend it back the same way before the finish had been applied... Also has evidence in the form of ANOTHER very straight bend that forms almost a y shape with the bend lines kinda intersecting... This leads me to believe that the good idea fairy has visited people in possession of this gun at least twice now...
Oedipus Wreckx-n-Effect
Christmas came early this year. My girlfriend got me a little hand held crossbow, extra string, and like 50 bolts. I'm currently getting a sling rigged up for it. So far, it's been really fun to shoot at my archery target. Oedipus Wreckx-n-Effect
Went to the range today. It was quite windy. I was able to identify why I couldn't hit anything past 250 yards. My scope was off of windage. Adjusted, now it is fine. The bad news, however, is that my 1916 mauser will not fire with a round in the chamber. Something isn't letting the trigger release the pin from under tension. Dis assembly will occur in a few days.

Oedipus Wreckx-n-Effect
Pictures of the actual gun coming soon. Still need to trim down the firing pin, since I'm piercing primers completely occasionally. Took it out today with the lady and the dog. Shot the AR a bit too. The dog had my six. roguetechie
LOL now that sturgeon has shown us his lever action of shame and fuddite tendencies I am much less ashamed of the Winchester 94 and ruger security six that hide in a back corner of my "good" gun safe... LOL I kid of course especially since I came about my Winchester by inheritance and am the third generation owner of said gun which my grandpa bought new a few months before he volunteered for the Navy a few weeks post pearl harbor... All joking aside, it was a proud and extremely memorable day when that gun was entrusted to my care... Especially since it was the last time I got to interact face to face with my grandfather before he passed... Knowing that he was entrusting me with what is essentially the family legacy ... It was an event I'll never ever forget and a duty I'd gladly give my last breath to uphold. I don't own that gun, I'm just holding it for people yet to be born. Maybe I'm weird for ascribing so much meaning to an implement made of wood and steel, but at those times when I miss him and my grandma all I have to do is open my safe and gently remove that gun and an entire youth full of fun, adventure, and learning what it means to be a man comes flooding back. Oedipus Wreckx-n-Effect
My grandfather gave me his Marlin 336 a month before cancer took him. It's an old one, 30-30, and I've killed with it. Good condition gun, and I shoot well with it. It's still not the best design out there, but it doesn't matter. Because it's family. Nothing to be ashamed of. We all like what we like. Sometimes we like outdated designs. I think it's more admirable than falling for the newest gimmicks, personally. But I really hate when people feel the need to justify them. You don't need to! They're cool, and they kill shit dead just fine. Oedipus Wreckx-n-Effect
There are sillier things to become emotionally distressed about, to be honest. A particular gun-blogger spouting about how X design is objectively better than Y design can certainly rustle up Neanderthalic enmity in some types, but compared to how certain people react to a particular sports team? It's a mild reaction. No one is going out and flipping cars because the Army picked a Sig.
