Snafu has a post about the 82nd Airborne experimenting with the LAV-25A2.

 

After a little digging I found one of their facebook pages had an interesting comment.

I was attached to 2-66 and 3-66 as a mechanized FO way back with they were part of the defunct 2AD Forward.
