It almost makes me want to believe the conspiracy theory that this shooting has been ignored because corporate interests in Las Vegas have a monetary interest in not reminding folks that this occurred which might make them choose to not visit Sin City. Some curious things that are missing so far is - so far as I know - there has been no release of any surveillance footage or closed circuit TV of the shooter, which there must be hours of going into and out of the casino and surrounding businesses. Another common news item that hasn't been released - so far as I know - is the evidence line-up featuring the guns, ammo, magazines, and explosives. This is a common stunt that big metro police departments do, particularly in a crime featuring multiple "high-powered, automatic weapons" and provides a nice photo shoot. It also allows gun nerds to be able to strut around and name the various models and calibers on gun forums. The only glimpse we've seen of the weapons have been those leaked photos, a handful of evil black rifles and a revolver which he used to blow his addled brains out. This is pretty unusual after nearly a month. Are the guns somehow tied to an ongoing investigation with accomplices that the shooter had? Is there an effort to dampen the news story and any potential fallout of evil black rifles being used in a crime? It's just damned odd.
