Yeah. I'm not sure exactly how his "heroics" went down last night. I saw a photo of him SANS the AR alongside a couple of deputies. I have a hunch a lot of the Las Vegas cops know him personally so the risk factor goes down since he is a "celebrity" of sorts.

I'm a lot more impressed by the folks who stuck around, taking off belts and shirts and were plugging wounds of the injured.

Like this former marine acting as a security guard at the concert helping out.

I bet there will be many stories of personal heroism associated with last nights events that will be published over the next few days.

One thing I thought was ridiculous, apparently there are people calling the performer a coward for running off the stage.  I don't know him or his music, but I certainly would not blame him for getting the hell off that stage.

Curiously, Dan Bilzerian was there at the concert.

He's the multi-millionaire World Series of Poker/Instagram celeb/gun guy who poses with half naked women while firing fully automatic weapons from the backs of Galopagos turtles (or something like that).

https://www.instagram.com/danbilzerian/?hl=en

The guy went back to his rig, grabbed his personal AR and was wandering around the crime scene assisting the cops clearing buildings or some such thing.

Dan Bilzerian is a blowhard idiot. I doubt he did anything but strut around.

That's bullshit. What do those morons want him to do? Keep playing? Fortunately for the performers, I don't think the shooter had direct line of sight on the stage from what I can tell via Google maps.

Curious. The video I linked has already been removed on YouTube. I guess ol' Dan's attention seeking with this event hasn't been well received by the Internet with folks labeling him as a coward for running away.

He must be spending his time filing take down notices.

The police radio had a moment where officers were told to lock there vehicles, as people were trying to get to the firearms in them to take on the shooter I guess.  I can see how this could have gone horribly wrong.

Yeah, that thing deserves like an all time award for tastelessness.

I think my favorite part about it is how it looks like it was drawn by an autistic eight year old.

What I'm seeing is a worrying amount of folks trying to tell me that this is proof of white priviledge, because people are going easy on the shooter something.  It baffles me because I'm seeing this argued on far more places than just tumblr, and the people saying this aren't really getting much flak for it.  Am I just missing the people who are saying that the Vegas attack wasn't actually that bad and that the shooter shouldn't be getting so much hate?  I've not even seen anyone ironically support the shooter like you did with Randy Stair.  There's no shortage of unique opinions being espoused, but this is the one that really gets me.

Thoughtful people who might develop worthwhile opinions on this are waiting until the facts are in.  There's still very little hard information.  So far, I've seen attempts to reconstruct a timeline based on recorded police chatter (it looks like the police made it into the room slightly less than an hour after the first dispatch, but that's based on spliced-together audio files and not 100% solid yet), and google maps reconstructions of the scene (this guy was shooting from very far away by active shooter standards).

People who are commenting with conviction now have verbal incontinence.  And like I said, anyone trying to score points right now is a jackass.  "The best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity."

The facts will come in, in ones and twos, until a reasonably coherent and clear picture emerges.  By then, anyone who latched onto this as proof of whatever before all the bodies had even been cleaned up will be bloviating on some other event du jour and will have largely forgotten this.  Good, I say, that way the adults won't have to speak above them.

I'll try to post anything factual that I find as it emerges.  If anyone wants to do a study on media awfulness, now is probably a good time to archive.is the most ridiculous, speculative, and tasteless nonsense you see for comparison later down the line.

Right now, all I have to say is thank God for police militarization.

The Las Vegas police (in my opinion) have been doing a very good job with this situation during and after. They've been remarkably forthright in terms of efficiently providing information to the American public that is immediately relevant.

What you will not see, however, is information that will hamper any criminal investigation. Whether the cops say so or not, they are looking for other potential accomplices. So they're not going to release information on the firearms until they've made sure they've discovered the exact provenance of them, whether obtained legally or illegally. They're not going to be releasing information on his motive, or his suicide note or manifesto. They're interviewing EVERYONE this guy has come in contact with. They're combing his electronic files (or waiting for warrants to do so). They're tracking down his financial transactions.

There is no doubt HOURS of closed circuit security camera footage at the mandalay hotel and every single gas station, casino, ATm or whatever that the cops are pouring over in order to recreate his last days polluting the planet with his presence. They currently have in their possession the security cam footage of the shooter carrying his weapons (or having hotel staff carrying the luggage/pelican cases/whatever) to his room. This footage hasn't been released to the public yet because it may show him interacting with accomplices.

It could be ISIS helping him. It could be mexican cartels. It could be white nationalists. It could be Antifa. It could be Lizard People as the Prophet of Infowars warned. Who fucking knows? But the cops have a list and are crossing everything off.

-1 shooter

-being treated as a homicide investigation

-no timeline yet

-shot security guard on 32nd floor

-will not share information on a motive until that information is confirmed

Bullet point 5 could very well have been me.   I'm thankful because I heard it was to the leg, and medical response was good so he is highly likely to survive, and probably do ok mobility wise.

Leaked photos of some of the guns. The latter AR is configured with a SlideFire, VFG, EOTech, and 100 round SureFire mag. The top gun appears to be a Daniel Defense rifle.

Neither is set up for the bump-SAW exploit, although the ingredients are all there.

I'm guessing the makers of Slide Fire are frantically calling their lawyers right now.  I notice that there website is down.

Yeah, probably not a good day for them. In a week, I expect these things will be $1000 on GunBroker.

I have seen tweets of people saying they are not calling him a terrorist because of white privilege, which just reminds me that the average person doesn't really know what terrorist means.

Even more annoying are people who are upset because they are calling this the worst mass shooting in the US in modern history.  Their complaint is that they are forgetting about Wounded Knee.  First off, I'm not sure that Wounded Knee count's as "modern history."  Second, it was a US military operation.  A nasty and regrettable one for sure, but it was a military action/battle.  By this standard, the largest mass shooting in US history would be Gettysburg.

Why does a shooter need a proper reason to preform mass murder?

Many mass murderers can be classified as sadists. People that mistake pain for pleasure, and has much stronger empty than the average person.  Just think about how you feel when the bad guy in a movie is finally taken down, and make that feeling much stronger, that is how a sadist feel. Also, the feeling of orchestrating such a big thing, the feeling of being in control of thousands of people's life.  Many people murder just because of pleasure alone.

To make things worse, is the amount of romanticizing from the media. Just think about the amount of prestige this person gets from pulling off the US's deadliest shooting. The media loves it and spreads it far and wide. He gets marked in history. Playing right into his hand.  This song pretty much shows a mass murder in a nutshell for the media:

And the amount of people exploiting the event for fame, attention and virtue signaling makes me puke. If these kinds of evens were played down and kept covering to a minimum, they would massively drop in popularity.

We should go deeper and accuse these people of racism for not recognizing My Lai as the deadliest mass shooting in American history.

Well, what makes Scumbag unusual is that normally psychpaths/sadists are unable to fly under the radar for six decades. They usually get caught in their developmental years when they are pulling the wings off birds, or, at worst, knifing or shooting their classmates. Then they are circulated through various ineffectual programs and/or prison until they die or (in rare cases) readjust. They do not normally lie dormant until they go on a shooting spree in their '60s. That is why people wonder if this was politically motivated.

Plus there's the fact that, in 2017, 85% of all actions taken by individuals, aside from eating, sleeping, and relieving the bowels, are politically motivated.
