Jeeps_Guns_Tanks
Lefties are calling for the cops to only get ten round magazines too. Check out the Tucker with Ethan Bearman, or at least ignorantly thinks they are when they are in fact not. Not even in California. our cops can get all the cool shit, like 15 and 30 round magazines and assault weapons and shit, for now.

So open carry of rifles? That's legal in most states. It cleans up a lot of ambiguity, like carrying a rifle from your house to your car. Without a law saying it's ok, you could get picked up for brandishing.
Ulric
We are often regaled with tales of "The good old days" when elementary school boys would bring their .22s to school and keep them in their locker. On the way home they could go to the dump and shoot rats, or set up cans on a fence along a country road and knock them down, etc. When they got into high school, the trucks in the parking lot would all have rifle racks in the back window, and every rack would be full. To echo what Oedipus said, you need to be able to legally carry firearms around in public, because you need to be able to handle them in a wide variety of situations that would not constitute "brandishing" or other threatening behavior. Some people push this a little too far and open carry their AR down main street just to cause a scene because "it's my right", but that would be like yelling obscenities outside of a library just for funsies: yes, you can do it, but you look like an inconsiderate, irresponsible jackass because of it. It's a similar chilling effect on the public that the flamboyantly gay activists have, which is to say, the opposite of the effect that you want. Instead demonstrating that this is a normal, every day occurrence, you are shoving your kinks in everyone's face and expecting them to accept it. Oedipus Wreckx-n-Effect
My wife caught a story recently. This is the sort of thing that happens on a nearly daily basis, but will never make the news. http://insider.foxnews.com/2016/06/30/concealed-carrier-shuts-down-active-shooter-lyman-south-carolina-nightclub Concealed Carrier Shuts Down Active Shooter at SC Nightclub Jun 30, 2016 // 6:23pm A concealed carrier is being credited with preventing further violence at a South Carolina nightclub. Spartanburg County deputies say 32-year-old Jody Ray Thompson got into an argument outside Playoffz nightclub in Lyman early Sunday morning. He then opened fire into the nearby crowd, wounding three people. A man fired back at Thompson in self-defense, striking him in the leg. Deputies say the hero had a valid concealed weapons permit and will not be facing charges. None of the injuries were said to be life-threatening. Thompson was charged with four counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and unlawful carrying of a weapon. The NRA chastised the media for not reporting on the incident. Gun advocate Eden Rose wrote on Facebook, "It's almost like.. having a concealed carrier on the spot can stop active shooters." Legiondude
I wish I could see the source data for that last graph. It's been floating around since the parkland shooting but while there is data on Wikipedia from 2013 that seems like it could back the graph, it places the per capita ownership rate of American firearms much lower which makes it seem less concrete. I would believe the graph for modern per capita ownership, but where on Wikipedia that data came from is unclear.

It was a bunch of stuff left over from the 1950s or something. And none of it was under lock and key. We had a gallon jar full of liquid mercury that the teacher would pass around the class. ... Ramlaen
When students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas return to class after spring break next week, they'll be required to carry clear backpacks. The move is meant to ramp up security measures after last month's deadly shooting in Parkland, Florida, and a series of breaches since. "Clear backpacks are the only backpacks that will be permitted on campus," said Broward County School Superintendent Robert Runcie said in a letter sent to parents. The district will provide the bags for free, he said. In addition to the new backpack policy, students and school staff will be required to wear IDs at all times while on campus. Quote Tyra Hemans, 19, a senior, told CNN she supports parts of the new policy, such as the ID requirement. But she believes other security measures, such as forcing students to carry clear backpacks, don't adequately address the real problem with school safety, which she says is lax gun laws. "I'm not happy with it. Why are you punishing me for one person's actions?" she said. The irony is deafening.
