New York police arrest man and seize a very average sized "arsenal" of weapons for not having permits

District AttorneyBrown said, “The defendant is accused of stockpiling an arsenal of deadly weapons in his home along with an enormous amount of ammunition. Illegal firearms pose an extreme risk to the public and in Queens County creating your own warehouse of lethal shotguns and rifles will not be tolerated.”

At that time, police allegedly recovered multiple weapons including 11 rifles, three shotguns and thousands of rounds of ammunition of multiple calibers. Included in the cache of weapons seized were a Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun, a Crossman GIExtreme Rifle, a banana ammo clip containing 25 caliber rounds and a Ruger Model 30 rifle.

You read that right. Some of the weapons are air rifles aka BB guns.

Per the New York Daily News.

Bullets were packed into metal military-like ammo boxes or still in the original packaging.

His bail is set at $150,000.

Harvey is scheduled to be back in court on May 11.

If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison.

His only offense was that he owned a bunch of shitty guns? Why did they catch him? What brought their attention to him?

Probably turned in by a neighbor or relative "for the public safety".

One of the related articles I read quoted a friend who said the guy inherited the "collection" from his dad who - presumably - had registered/licensed them. So maybe the cops are just cross-referencing deaths among firearms collectors? But that is speculation.

Also, I suppose it could be related to social media posts or a relative/friend who called him in.

Edit: Looosered by meplat.

That sounds fishy. They could shake down any banger in Central Park and get a pistol or three. This feels like they are making an example out of this guy, especially if he's got no priors.

Of course he was being made and example. We can't have a common serf running around with ammunition stored in surplus metal military-style ammo boxes!

He had "an arsenal" including those eebil 747 seeking SNIPAR RIFFLES with OPTACS.  (or some bullshit).

It's not hard to find similar "arsenals" where more than half the spread is airshit or pellet guns.

This is how many departments and the media get their money, by feeding on the ignorance of the public.

Did they include the BBs in the "thousands of rounds of ammunition"?

Also, are there non-lethal shotguns and rifles that you can stockpile? Is there a class of firearms that are not considered to be deadly weapons? Such hype and fear mongering.

School resource officer confronts, shoots gunman at Illinois High School.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-met-dixon-school-shooting-20180516-story.html

The potential school shooter was a 19-year old former student.

...

Take away 1: Having armed security at schools never works.

Take away 2: So this is what would have happened if the Coward of Broward County had done his job.

Pornstar Mia Khalifa, the Lebanese chick who had a fatwa issued against her by ISIS for getting her ass pounded by multiple dudes while wearing the hijab, made the Twitter rounds today by publicly advocating for gun control after turning in her shotgun in to the Austin Police Department.

She apparently believes the gun's value to be $1,500...

Also, her "manager" claims that she purchased it without undergoing a background check at a gun dealer.

Hot takes:

1) Given the number of porn stars that have killed themselves over the past year (at least two, including one today) this is no doubt a good move.

2) After being called out for lying about the gun's story on Twitter by 2nd Amendment types, she has been changing her tale. It really is disconcerting to discover that a porn star would fake it.

3) Given her body of work, I'd have thought that Khalifa would have preferred a black gun...

$1500.00 for what looks like a pretty stock model 870?   She got fucking robbed. Deservedly so.

And no background check, from a shop? yeah, "bullshit"..

These two articles chronicle a delightful shitfit:

You cannot trust everyone to read past a punchy headline. That’s why plenty of people—plenty—ran right to their keyboards to say: “You’re taking my guns? You’ll get them bullets first.” I would also accept—and did, oh my God, so many times:

  • “Go ahead and try, the streets will be awash in blood.”
  • “Good luck confiscating all those guns yourself, really hope you don't get murdered by law abiding citizens lol.”
  • “Molon Labe.” (I’d never heard this one before, and it appears to be the gun lobby’s version of “Bazinga.”)
  • Lots of memed-up screenshots from Tombstone and Deadwood, which, if you’re trying to convince me that 2018 America is not the Wild West, are less than encouraging.

He follows that up with:

This is not a problem that’s endemic to one side of one issue, by the way. Plenty of people of all political persuasions will get worked up over a headline and develop an opinion instead of reading the piece. But in my experience, only gun-rights activists will do this and then add that they’re going to shoot you.

Ah yes, the old "let's compromise" argument. "Why don't you want to compromise with me?" Because, as you stated, you want to take all guns away, and I want firearm laws to be considerably relaxed from where they are now, so we are already at a compromise. The mistake you make is thinking that I'm perfectly fine with the ways things are right now, and that my desire is to maintain status quo.

That aside, this writer is one of those useful idiots who thinks things will go his way "because I am right".  He has no concept of the impact, cost or repercussions of what he proposes, but woe be onto those who disagree.

His "Meeting in the middle"  gun control is the moral equivalent of two Klansmen discussing what kind of rope to hang the "Strange fruit" from.
