BTW as it now seems the 'Ministry Of Thought Control' are not going to kick my doors in, don't you think it's time for a more honest title for this thread?  'Let's try to bait The Brits'  might be a good one.

It's not even been a month! Give it some time!

Yeah, but you'll all be at war with a new country or two by then, and running rampant over your own rights in the process.

So how would we judge who is less free?

Trouble is they'll bloody drag us with them.....The Tories never met a war they didn't like.

Looks like they'll be far too busy for me.....They'll have to start with C4 first:

https://www.channel4.com/news/factcheck/did-boris-johnson-lie-about-porton-downs-evidence-against-russia

Conclusion.....Probably!  :o

I predict a mass outbreak of 'suicide by blunt penknife' amongst C4 staff in the coming months.

PS - The actual reason for this whole cock & bull Skripal story has become patently obvious since the (equally fake) Douma incident.....Clearly it's all Russia's fault (despite the fact that they have disposed of their chemical stockpile), so now it seems we will have to have WWIII (which we will very probably lose).

That's the joy of nuclear warfare - it has no winners.

May seems to be back-pedalling.....She has suddenly developed an interest in 'proof'!

I'm guessing that someone might have just explained the precise capabilities of the S-400 Growler to her.

Tony Blair chucking his lot in with the pro-war camp is the best news we've seen so far.....Comments in mainstream newspaper sites (the ones that still permit such things) across the political spectrum have been universally negative, generally along the lines of 'If Bliar says it's true then it definitely isn't.'.

The British public are learning it seems.

All a bit irrelevant once Bolton is off his leash of course.....

This whole Skripal case is getting more farcical by the minute.....BZ is an incapacitating agent with a very large safety margin, not a lethal nerve agent:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3-Quinuclidinyl_benzilate

So clearly whoever did poison the Skripals was being very careful not to kill them.

How much more BS do we need before we can start growing roses on this story?

PS - Bit surprised our new 'thought-police' haven't rounded old Craig up yet.....I mean he was one of their own and now look at the kind of things he's saying!  :o

Yet the OPCW "confirm the findings of the United Kingdom relating to the identity of the toxic chemical that was used in Salisbury", finding that "the  toxic  chemical  was  of  high  purity". The final report states that no precursors were found, directly contradicting the RT "source" on wikipedia

Which means what exactly?  How does that rule out BZ?  Novichok is a class of agents, BZ isn't amongst those listed on the Wiki definition, but are we sure it's not part of a broader group under that name (Newcomer)?

How does this contradict the RT source?  I don't see any mention of precursors there.....Typically they aren't making their report available, but here's Spiez Labs own comments via Twitter:

Some of the links in that thread are well worth following up too.....I found this one most interesting:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-28212724

I watch the BBC pretty regularly and I don't recall seeing this on their news service at any time.....Why wasn't it headline news, it's some serious stuff after all?  (I wonder).

Section 1 of the report summary:

Quote

The  United  Kingdom  of  Great  Britain  and  Northern  Ireland  requested  technical  assistance from the OPCW Technical Secretariat (hereinafter “the Secretariat”) under subparagraph  38(e)  of  Article  VIII  of  the  Chemical  Weapons  Convention  in  relation  to an incident in Salisbury on 4 March 2018 involving a toxic chemical—allegedly a nerve   agent—and   the   poisoning   and   hospitalisation   of   three   individuals.   The   Director-General  decided  to  dispatch  a  team  to  the  United  Kingdom  for  a  technical  assistance visit (TAV).

Section 7:

Quote

The  team  was  briefed  on  the  identity  of  the  toxic  chemical  identified  by  the  United  Kingdom and was able to review analytical results and data from chemical analysis of biomedical samples collected by the British authorities from the affected individuals, as well as from environmental samples collected on site.

Section 10:

Quote

The  results  of  analysis  by  the  OPCW  designated  laboratories  of  environmental  and  biomedical samples collected by the OPCW team confirm the findings of the United Kingdom relating to the identity of the toxic chemical that was used in Salisbury and severely injured three people.

It's pretty clear. UK alleges a nerve agent was used (and has been pretty consistent that it was an attempt at murder), OPCW agrees. 3-Quinuclidinyl benzilate isn't a suitable tool for murder, as you pointed out, and being developed in the 50's it isn't really a newcomer either.

My bad, a wikipedia editor got overeager

According to the Russian minister of foreign affairs Sergey Lavrov, a Swiss laboratory analysing the samples detected the presence of BZ and its precursors in the substance used in the Sergei and Yulia Skripal' poisoning case.[16]

1) Remembering front-page news from 4 years ago is quite impressive

2) So something else we can blame on thatcher?

Found reference to the 'precursors' comment in this article from the Independent, it is attributed to Sergei Lavrov (haven't verified):

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/skripals-skripal-russia-nerve-agent-bz-novichok-poison-salisbury-attack-latest-update-a8304841.html

The Indy seem as confused as the rest of us.....As far as I can make out, we now have Spiez, an OPCW accredited lab producing (& apparently standing by) findings contradictory to those of the British (which were apparently verified by the OPCW).....Yet the lab won't question the OPCW's verification or indeed level criticism at Porton Down, another OPCW accredited lab.

Do you think the OPCW might be the actual target of all this?

PS - Apparently we even murdered the Skripal's cat (& Guinea Pigs):

Allied missile strikes on Syria – a message from the Head of the Civil Service

In the early hours of 14 April, the armed forces of the United Kingdom, the United States and France launched a series of co-ordinated strikes on sites in Syria linked with the production and storage of chemical weapons. This was in response to the use of prohibited chemical weapons by the Syrian regime against the civilian population of Douma, whose horrific consequences were widely reported.

I want to thank civil servants in a number of departments, but especially in the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, the Ministry of Defence, Department for International Development, Department for Health and Social Care (and Public Health England), Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs, and the Cabinet Office, for their work after the attack on Douma and throughout the allied operation. This response was designed to degrade the Syrian regime’s chemical weapons capability and as a deterrent to their future use.

Coming after the nerve agent attack in Salisbury just over a month ago, I also want to take this opportunity to renew my gratitude to the hundreds of public servants – at home and abroad – involved in the response to that attack and the ongoing investigation. Their work was instrumental in ensuring widespread international support for the Government’s position on Russian responsibility for the Salisbury attack and the participation of many nations in the diplomatic sanctions that followed.

We could wish it was in different circumstances. However, the response to the Salisbury incident and the chemical attack on Douma showed the public service at its best: collaborative, professional and quick to act in the national interest, even under the greatest pressure.

Jeremy Heywood
Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Civil Service

OK Merkins.....It seems UK based Hillary sympathisers within the Conservative Party have been trying to fuck you over (possibly in collusion with factions within the intelligence services of both of our nations):

So what are you going to do about it?

Just another nail in the "Russia-Trump" conspiracy coffin. Eventually it will die... eventually.
