What is that on the exhaust of the Stryker?

What is the name of this vehicle?

The box with fans is an air conditioning unit, and a 120mm armed Rooikat.

Same Vextra demonstrator with the 120mm POLE turret demonstrator.

The purpose of POLE was to test :

- light 120mm turret ;

- and 120mm indirect fire.

In the new battles for the airport of the Libyan capital Tripoli, the 9P157-2 ATGM "Chrysanthemum-C" combat vehicle again was spotted. In total, Libya received from Russia fourteen ATGM vehicles - four before the civil war and the remaining ten in 2013, after the defeat of the forces of the Jamahiriya and the killing of Gaddafi, but before the war broke out in 2014 between the groups that came to power.

....

New models of modernized armored vehicles were presented to the Chairman of the State Council of Cuba Raul Castro Ruz in the shops of the military industrial company Emilio Barsenas. In particular, Raul Castro inspected the wheeled tank "BTR-115" on the chassis of the BTR-60, with a modified turret of the T-62 medium tank.

A video of the VEXTRA during it's development (I don't think there are much images left of it)

Those of you who consult the AW forum may have already seen it.

Do you mean the turret carrying the 120mm FER?

Because AFAIK the 105mm turret is the regular TML 105 and the 25mm is the Dragar.

First time I see the POLE acronym.

What does it stands for?

Yes

I don’t know.

The purpose of the POLE was (not only) to test the firing of 120mm from a wheeled platforme but to test indirect tank firing. The accuracy achieved was very good.

Indirect fire was lost with the Leclerc MBT introduction. Until the AMX-30, tank crew were trained to this capability. Into each AMX-30 turret, you can put a level to use the balistic table. There is a special support on the cradle.

With the AMX-10RC, there is only one level per troop and tank crew were not trained to this (even if it was to be known).

Indirect firing capability will come back with the next tank generation.

Do you have any source on that?

Might gives us some clue on the design KNDS are working on.

I don’t have clue but :

- POLE was to test a need, not only to inject fresh money into Nexter.

- Leclerc MBT was designed as a tank killer but reality shown tanks are not the only target on the battlefield. Look at the rebirth of tanks in Australia and Canada.

- on the market, you have a trend to offer indirect fire (CMI...).

- indirect fire capable turret are interesting :

   - to both FIBUA and montain warfare,

   - to launch missiles or UAV.

So.

Rooikat 120 STRNG

rzkfhx962dm01.jpg

Now you can drive it in Arma 3 with fully modeled interior. Knowing that game engine it is better to drive it on the roads only. And don't hit road signs, as this will make this vehicle to achieve some impressive speed while flying across the map and hitting a helicopter, generating some hysterical laughs from whole server. Or those terrible anti-tank pebbles on Altis map.
