Tied
the Stryker is the biggest "STRONK GLORIOUS RUSSIA>US" cards i love to pull Here we have an APC that essentially does what a Soviet IFV has been doing since the 50s introduced in 2002 which has much a much higher cost, lower armament and arguably worse armor than BTR-s produced almost ten years prior (the BTR-80a having an 30mm auto-canon since 1994) and did i mention every BTR since the open top BTR-60P has been completely amphibious while the syker isnt? all nationalism aside, why 30mm and not the tried and true 25 or even 20 that most HATO nations already use? Mike E
WTF are they doing,. gold plating the firing chamber or something? Nope, just keeping the MIC happy with more money. Same thing with the F-35.
Scolopax
Besides finding a way to get some, the LAV-III seems like a no-brainer to me in the situation of upgunning the Stryker. Belesarius

Walter_Sobchak
I bet the majority of the cost is FCS I think it's a fully automated turret as well, probably complicated has heck. And of course General Dynamics is not exactly known for giving the US Government bargains.
Bill
There is a quite a bit of interesting stuff in this DTIC report on the failed Armored Ground Combat Vehicle program. It has the added bonus of only being a three year old report, much newer than most of the stuff publicly available in DTIC. Thank you - very interesting on first scan - I will read it in detail ASAP Cheers B
