LoooSeR
Saudi-Led Coalition Suffers Heavy Casualties in Southern Yemen Over 20 Saudi-led mercenaries were killed and 70 others were injured as the Yemeni army and popular committees frustrated their attempt to advance towards al-Omari military camp in Taiz province, according to battlefield sources. The Yemeni forces also bombarded a Saudi warship on Mocha coast in Taiz. Yemen has been since March 26 under brutal aggression by Saudi-led coalition. Thousands have been martyred and injured in the attack, with the vast majority of them are civilians. Riyadh launched the attack on Yemen in a bid to restore power to fugitive president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia. However, Yemeni army, backed by the committees has been responding to the aggression by targeting several Saudi border military posts and cleansing several areas across the country, especially the country’s south, from Hadi and al-Qaeda-linked militias. Collimatrix
"Today hundreds of Saudi and allied troops, equipped with the latest fighter jets, guided missiles and tanks were ruthlessly slaughtered by some Shia peasants armed with sharpened mud. Saudi officials were unavailable for comment because they were attending a public execution of a toddler for idolatry. This marks the fourth straight month of defeats for the Saudi-led coalition, although Saudi military officials have noted that the substitution of slippers for boots with laces has enormously reduced casualties from tripping and falling." cm_kruger
So now we've got Colombian mercs. (as one will recall, Iran and Hezbollah are active in Venezuela and are involved with training FARC) http://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/26/world/middleeast/emirates-secretly-sends-colombian-mercenaries-to-fight-in-yemen.htm WASHINGTON — The United Arab Emirates has secretly dispatched hundreds of Colombian mercenaries to Yemen to fight in that country’s raging conflict, adding a volatile new element in a complex proxy war that has drawn in the United States and Iran. It is the first combat deployment for a foreign army that the Emirates has quietly built in the desert over the past five years, according to several people currently or formerly involved with the project. The program was once managed by a private company connected to Erik Prince, the founder of Blackwater Worldwide, but the people involved in the effort said that his role ended several years ago and that it has since been run by the Emirati military. The arrival in Yemen of 450 Latin American troops — among them are also Panamanian, Salvadoran and Chilean soldiers — adds to the chaotic stew of government armies, armed tribes, terrorist networks and Yemeni militias currently at war in the country. Earlier this year, a coalition of countries led by Saudi Arabia, including the United States, began a military campaign in Yemen against Houthi rebels who have pushed the Yemeni government out of the capital, Sana. Well sure you can go to Europe or Russia with bundles of oil money and buy all the expensive and customized weapons you need like you're going into car dealership, but having competent troops is another thing, especially when your military culture holds NCOs/enlisted troops in contempt and fears giving them any sort of initiative. Though there is a legitmate strategic reason to want them as an ally. Air bases there have been kinda crucial at times. I think Turkey was in much better shape a few years back, but the current PM hasn't exactly been a strong pro NATO/ pro-westernization force. Belesarius
We've discussed the Why Arabs Lose Wars earlier here on the forum CM. Not flattering for the snackbars Yeah, a lack of a professional NCO corps and treating your troops like subhuman garbage doesn't exactly make for a fighting force built to win battles. I would have figured the Americans would have made the Saudis absorb at least some of that over the last 25 years of being allied. But they are freaking Wahabists. Thick skulls I guess. LoooSeR
Yemeni Army and Houthis Overrun the Saudi Army in Najram Last month, the Yemeni Army’s Republican Guard and their popular committees – led by the Houthis – shocked the region after capturing the strategic city of Rabouah; this strategic city was also located in southern Saudi Arabia, creating panic amongst the Saudi-led Coalition Forces that were combatting the Republican Guard and Houthis for several months prior to this demoralizing defeat. One month later, the Saudi-led Coalition Forces have been paralyzed in southern Saudi Arabia, as the Yemeni Republican Guard and the Houthis pushed their way into another Saudi border city after combatting the pro-Hadi forces for several months inside the Jizan Region. On Saturday morning in southern Saudi Arabia, the Yemeni Republican Guard and the Houthis overran the Saudi-led Coalition Forces at the city of Najran, killing several of their fighters and seizing their military equipment before imposing full control over the Saudi Army post in the southeastern countryside of this city. The loss of Rabouah inside Saudi Arabia last month resulted in the Saudi-led Coalition Forces having their primary supply route cutoff by the Yemeni Republican Guard and the Houthis; if they lose Najran, they will lose another border-crossing to the enemy forces, despite having the superior weapons and air support. LoooSeR
hahahHAHAHA BREAKING: More Saudi Bases, Villages Seized As Yemeni Forces Advance in Jizan On Sunday, a military source has confirmed that the Yemeni Army and Popular Committees have overran four Saudi military bases and seized more than 10 military vehicles in Jizan. LoooSeR
Breaking: Yemeni Army and the Houthis Capture 3 Sites in the Saudi City of Najran This is just crazy. Moments ago in the Saudi city of Najran, the Yemeni Army’s Republican Guard – backed by the Houthis – imposed full control over 3 Saudi military sites after a series of intense firefights with the Saudi-led Coalition Forces on the border of Yemen. According to a battlefield journalist, the Saudi-led Coalition Forces suffered heavy casualties near the southeastern perimeter of Najran, resulting in their subsequent withdrawal from 3 military sites before the Saudi Air Force’s F-16 fighter jets pounded the Yemeni Republican Guard and the Houthis. In the last 48 hours, the Houthis and Republican Guard have made several advances along Najran’s southern axis, leaving the Saudi-led Coalition Forces in a world of trouble. Last month, the Yemeni Republican Guard and the Houthis Captuted the strategic Saudi city of Rabouah, marking the first time during this conflict that the anti-Hadi forces seized an entire city in Saudi Arabia. This embarrassing defeat to the Yemeni Republican Guard and the Houthis led many to question the effectiveness of the Saudi airstrikes and their ground assault, as they proved ineffective in both northern Yemen and southern Saudi Arabia. As a result of their failures in Yemen, the Saudi-led Coalition Forces have called on more reinforcements from the Sudan and Mauritania; however, they have been relatively ineffective thus far. Priory_of_Sion
Yeah, all the Saudis need is a little bit more troops from Mauritania and Sudan, two nations known for their top notch militaries. AQAP has ties to Little Rock shooting and the Christmas Underwear bomber a few years ago. America has already been bombing Yemen since 2010 IIRC.
