Ancient Arthropods

Recommended Posts

Tongue Worms are nasty little fuckers(and arthropods) that usually infect the respiratory systems of us vertebrates. But, it seems like they've made a jump from infecting crusteceans to vertebrates between now and 425 million years ago or at least some ancestor made that leap as a 425 mya fossil has shown a tongue worm violating the personal space of a poor bivalve

A paper on the discovery of nervous system impressions of the Cambrain arthropod fuxianuia. Pretty big since you don't usually get this level of preservation. It also concludes that the vision of fuxianuia was about the same as modern arthropods.

It's all over the news but scientists have found this lovely chap.

The researchers were unable to find any evidence that the animal had an anus, which suggests that it consumed food and excreted from the same orifice.

Gentlemen.  We have found the first evolutionary evidence of Wehraboos!
