WT has it's own issues, (mostly with physics not based in reality and "Sekret Dokumentz"), but yes, at least one can say "fuck this noise" and just fly.

Even when you get bottom tier, you don't get tier fucked like you do in WoT. You also have the flexibility to select which tank you want to use. A good example is the 3.7 soviet line up, where the SMK and KV-1 L11 are amazing if they are top, and dog shit in any other situation, but you can offset that with T-34-76s and the 29K, which are solid all around choices, even if you get bottom tier. Not having to chew through 3x your own tanks HP with half the DPM of your opponent really levels the playing field and makes player skill significantly more important.

The new patch is really something, and Italian tanks are really fun, but they do need to work on a few things.

Did the patch change the game mechanics, all the tanks feel slower to me? Or is this because I've been playing a racing game?

WoWS is pretty fun

WoWS is odd. For new players, you typically get sorted into games with 2-3 players per team and the rest bots. These are pretty easy to play, and it's easy to feel good about your performance (especially if you play aggressively).

Once you hit some magic number (possibly number of battles, or tier), you get normal matches with players filling all the slots. This is a fundamentally different game, as players are a lot better than the bots - suddenly the aggressive gameplay that works well against bots just gets you killed quickly.

I'm still re-calibrating to adjust for this.

The T-2 confuses me.  I suspect they will change that to "F-1", as the T-2 was never really fielded as a full on combat aircraft, it was best thought of as an advanced trainer that could (and did) carry armament.

The  Japanese were still using the T-2 and F-1 when I was in Misawa.

Japanese Sabres were often in beautiful color schemes.  Somewhat looking forward to them, even if the potential MM will suck terribly (And the chances of them mounting AIM9's as they did in service being slim to none).

Turns out it's a T-2K. And her colours are certainly remarkable; she looks like a Robot In Disguise.

EDIT: As for the Sabre; she might not make you feel like a you're assaulting the Death Star, but she does come in Bumblebee yellow:

The camo scheme T-2 has Misawa AB markings.

The bluish scheme is "Blue Impulse", the JASDF version of the Thunderbirds, and the colors seem a bit off. (May look better on my "good" monitor).

The Sabre "Bumblebee" is wearing the very early "Blue Impulse" aerobatic team colors.

So I just noticed on the American Desert Town map, there is a train. At some point, the train decides to leave, and you can shoot it, and if you shoot the Engine, it has a damage model like the tanks do, so it shows your round doing damage to the train inards!   I thought that was cool.

included for giggles, this is me killing a Nashorn right in front of the Tiger...

It's kinda lame, last years sub event was better.

Yeah, I gave up after three matches - the lasers were maddening in that I was aiming at things and the beam was visually connecting, but no damage. The submerged action was actually a lot better, while the tank section was awfulness incarnate.
