We'll do it with 4 aircraft. General: Uh, you sure about that? I'll let you use more...the Commandant is watching. Major: No worries, we got this. Heck, we'll only load 2 of them fully with bombs too. Heh. Bronezhilet
Collimatrix
Video of testing the weapons bays on the X-32: One thing the X-32 had going for it is that the prototype had weapons bays, and these were flight-test demonstrated. Come to think of it, that may be the only thing the X-32 had going for it.

Collimatrix
A presentation by a Russian expert on the F-35 and PAK-FA: The commentator seems very skeptical of LPI (low probability of intercept) techniques for radar and insists that as soon as it turns on its active sensors, a stealth fighter is no longer stealthy. I am curious why; the idea behind LPI is fairly straightforward and at the very least theoretically sound. The radar (which has to be AESA to do this) spreads out its emission energy onto multiple, random frequencies instead of using only a single frequency. The total energy output is still high enough to get a clear picture, but to a radar warning receiver it doesn't look like a radar signal, it looks like random noise. This, combined with the AESA's extremely precise and rapid beam steering means that hostile ECM will have a hard time determining that it is being pinged. Collimatrix
Four SDB II's and an AIM-120D in the left weapon bay of a JSF. The same weapons in an F-22: Say what you want about the F-35's range and agility, and cost overruns, and development delays but its internal weapons capacity is impressive. Sturgeon
But colli, JSF is bad because it's fat, and everyone knows you want a slender plane for low drag.
