Hey Russian tank experts, does anyone know the purpose of these objects mounted on the back of this BMP-1?

Its a BMP-1P, and yes those objects look like blocks used to secure a vehicle during transportation.

That makes sense to me.  My first thought was that it was some sort of fancy replacement for the log, but transport blocks makes more sense.

Great meeting you this weekend, Walter! Some type of track chock was my first thought as well for the mystery blocks. Here are a couple more images:

They bolt onto mounting points welded to the rear doors that, in other pictures, BMPs are using to attach spare track shoes

And there are teeth on the other side., so we were quite sure they were being pounded into the ground or somesuch. Getting a grip into a flatcar bed would definitely make sense.

About 3,000 servicemen of the 90th Tank Division of the Central Military District were raised in alarm in the framework of a bilateral regimental tactical exercise that began in the South Urals.

At the first stage, the units worked out measures to bring them to the highest degrees of combat readiness, marched into designated areas, where they deployed a control system and organized support.

During the final stage of bilateral maneuvers, the tank regiments will work out defeating the conventional enemy in maneuver defense on the one hand, and conducting raiding and circumventing operations in the offensive on the other. Particular attention will be paid to the tasks in the reconnaissance-fire contours with application of
reconnaissance aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles.

On September 26, the motorized riflemen of the Southern Military District liberated the Syrian city. At the combined training range of Prudboy tactical classes were held to liberate the settlement occupied by the conventional adversary. Training was conducted taking into account the experience gained in the military operations of Russian troops in Syria.

This time, the "Military Acceptance" is sent to an extreme expedition of the Ministry of Defense to Elbrus. This event is unique in itself: the most modern Russian military armored cars will try to climb the highest mountain of the country.
