I wonder how well those wheel covers do in the mud.

This is FSB vehicle for urban shootouts. For areas with deep mud they have Viking MRAP on KamAZ truck chassis.

They have made it futuristic-looking, but is a non-existing driver's visibility really worth the effort to make it good looking?

IDK about how bad visibility. Maybe it is acceptable for it's level of protection. AFAIK they put cameras all over this vehicle.

UPD - here is Tiger that was modified for anti-terrorosts operation in North Caucasus.

Jesus, not one IS-3  of the ~600 lasted past 300 service hours and 1000km during government test. For reference this what the IS-2 achieved in wartime:

IS/ISU-122: 1200-1800 km, 230-280 hours

The preproduction prototype had a fan break at 810, could have made it 200 more km probably.

On the first 800 or so the cooling system was inefficient plus they lacked dust protection so the fan would break and the engine would overheat rather quickly. So they all had to be sent back to ChTZ to be fixed.
