Events of the 1918 on Ukrainian territories can not be called a fragment of the Civil War, as it was a war of Russia against Ukraine. This was said on January 29 at a lesson of courage in the Kiev military lyceum named after Ivan Bohun by the president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

"Many historians with some modesty, some Aesopian language called the events either as Ukrainian-Bolshevik or even civil war. In fact it was a war against Ukraine, which Russia launched in the red and white of its guises. History is sometimes reminiscent of running in circles, "- said the head of state

According to him, a manifestation of the historical cyclicality was a statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin's of the delusional transmission of Donbass to Ukraine in 1920 (Poroshenko said that Putin did not recognize the internationally recognized borders of Ukraine as of 1918).

Poroshenko and even saw some similarities between the events of 1918 and the contemporary phenomena.
"Then, as now, Russia can not accept the existence of an independent Ukraine. As it is now, and they use hybrid warfare. There are common features: the aggressor country does not recognize the aggression, the myth of the Civil War, false propaganda, the creation of the puppet republic, fifth column of support inside Ukraine, and so on. "- told the head of state.
