The 24-month Assessment Phase (AP) to determine the winning bidder for the British Army Challenger 2 main battle tank (MBT) Life Extension Programme (LEP) is due to be completed at the end of 2018.

The invitation to tender (ITT) for the Demonstration, Manufacture and In Service (DMI) phase is expected to be released around August 2018. Industry response is required to be submitted to the UK Ministry of Defence’s (UK MoD’s) Defence Equipment and Support organisation in December 2018 with a potential contract award in mid-2019.

They want to choose a winner before demonstrations? That's bold. But mid-2019 is kinda late.

Doesn't really seem convincing. RUAG also provides parts for the Boxer's armor package (i.e. the anti-mine plating and the roof armor), so they are rather independent of BAE Systems. OTOH this is the first case known to me, where a Patria AMV will be fitted with RUAG's SidePro armor. Previously all AMVs armor seems to be provided by either Rheinmetall/IBD, Tencate and Rafael, depending on user country.

Given that the E35 turret used on the CV9035 used armor from RUAG, while the Patria AMV for Sweden, Finland and other countries used armor from Åkers Krutbruk (100% daughter of IBD), they probably had to make a choice to ease logistics. Opting for armor made by the competitor doesn't make much sense.

Loooser'd by SH_MM. It's not a bad choice, the abundance of 105mm ammo on the market probably made a significant contribution to the decision (whereas net total of L11 users is basically just jordan and iran)

Oddly enough, the other day I got an email from someone in Jordan looking to purchase engines for a Challenger I.  I don't know why I get these sorts of emails, I certainly don't have a stock of engines in my backyard to sell.

It came from someone at raboukh.com and asked:

hello sir we need  4 engine diesel rolls royce cv12 tca for tank Challenger 1

Raboukh is a Jordanian outfit from what I can tell.  Their website is unintentionally hilarious.
