This design featured excellent stealth properties, but the agility was deemed insufficient. The YF-23 design that was ultimately settled upon was a compromise between stealth and agility. Boeing EX A-6/S-3/E-2 replacement At first I thought it was just a model kitbash, but apparently it made it as far as the cover of Popular Mechanics: and some sort of large-scale model: The idea behind the diamond wing is that there would be phased array radar antennae in the front of the main wings and the aft of the rear horizontal surfaces. That way the aircraft could have 360 degree radar coverage without the need for a big, draggy pancake on top of it like an E-2 Hawkeye.
