Some info about KamAZ truck, used in Pantsir-S2 AA system.

Vehicle is equipped with armor protection, the driver cabin armor and armored glass/windows were made in Naberezhniy Chelny, by "Asteis". Transmission is ZF (used in German military trucks by MAN and in Boxer APC), electronic "brains" of automatic transmission - Bosch, with "Made in Germany" inscription visible. Moreover, this model (KAMAZ-6560) have axles by Madara (Bulgarian company) and parts by German-Austrian ZF Steyr.

Sided entrance is located unusually high, entrance to AA system operation compartment is from both sides.

Other than air-conditioning unit, cabin looks like usual KamAZ truck cabin. Accelerator pedal is "tight", but vehicle accelerates smoothly. Impressed a turning radius - 17 meters.

One moment was nervous. Since the drive is full (8x8), the author moved from the road of concrete slabs directly on the field - frozen and with small clumps. But the instructor was nervous, "Look, don't get the wheel in the hole." It turned out that driver should be very careful because the center of gravity, if you do not calculate it right, you can roll over.

What is the fuel consumption? According to the author - 65 liters per 100 km.

Turret with 30 mm cannons and missile launchers is unmanned. Above it - radar station to detect targets, between guns - target tracking radar.

Having learned that the author work for the motoring/cars magazine, "anti-aircrafters" themselves invited him to take pictures with the camera of the "shoals" [this is how we call fuck ups] of the KamAZ chassis.

Firstly, in the front wheel arch - exposed tubes and other elements of the pneumatic system, which are collecting flying stones and dirt.

Secondly, even earlier in the article about the author experiences with prototype of the KAMAZ-6560 he spoke about the fact that the wheels air pump tubes are almost touching the rear wheels, in serial KAMAZ-6560 these tubes are in a metal covers, but they don't just "almost touch", now they clearly do touch rear tires.

KamAZ-6560 have another serious problem, which was discovered by accident. This problem exist on KamAZ-6560, 65224, 65221, 65222, with Madara-supplied axles, and during the operation of vehicles with them a significant number of complaints received - in 2014 and 2013, 45 and 74, respectively. Earlier, it was decided to organize the production of our own design of axles, and the estimated production volume was 16 thousand units per year, the beginning of the installation of equipment - third quarter of 2017. The project cost 1.7 billion rubles, the subsidy (from the Industrial Development Fund) - 228 million rubles. But, apparently, money were not given.

However, for the production of 12-liter engines of the Liebherr design KamAZ need even more - 5 billion rubles, of which the grant was given - 1 billion rubles. Prospective KamAZ-6560M Tornado is planned to be equipped with those engines, as well.

Ohh, and this KaMAZ chassis have breaks by Knorr, SUPERIOR RUSSIAN ENGINEERING GUYS!

Next up you'll be posting about a raybestos clutch or Michelin tires. you rampant wehraboo, you.

All nonsense and kidding aside, chances are Knorr copied/built under patent some form of Lockheed/Girling/Delco system for that truck.

Several videos of different Soviet prototype cars/trucks, photos of which were posted in this thread.

ZiL-167, 12 ton 6x6 truck, 2 rear mounted 180 HP engines each, automatic transmission

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXk1S-gtlHY

NAMI-058, 12 wheels, all were powered. Truck was 8x8, and 4x4 "active" trailer helped to push truck during offroad driving. This thing could drive with 25t max load.

Also, NAMI-0127 truck is shown in the video, this truck didn't had rotating wheels, turning was achieved by truck layout - second half of this machine was connected to engine/driver block via special connecting unit.

Next truck is "Blue Bird", created for search and rescue missions in remote parts of Soviet Union. It was originally created for searching cosmonauts, although serial production never started. Blue Bird was a series of vehicles, all of wich you can see in the video

And here is a dolphin. I mean, ZiL-135P "Dolphin", a 14-meter long, 8x8 truck that was also a boat.

ZiL-134, one of the first project of trucks with 8x8 drive. 240 HP V12, automatic transmission, self locking interwheel differentials, independent torsion bar suspension of all wheels.

NAMI-076 "Ermak" (1963) - one of first Soviet trucks that had a designer/artist, working on it. 11 meters long, 320HP V12, automatic transmission, wheel planetary gear and could pull the 45-ton forestry trailer.

The Shaita-Arba, lol.

From video description:

The Antarctic Snow Cruiser was a vehicle designed from 1937 to 1939 under the direction of Thomas Poulter, intended to facilitate transport in Antarctica. The Snow Cruiser was also known as "The Penguin," "Penguin 1" or "Turtle"in some published material.

While having several innovative features, it generally failed to operate as hoped under the difficult conditions, and was eventually abandoned in Antarctica. Rediscovered under a deep layer of snow in 1958, it later disappeared again due to shifting ice conditions.

Pontiac Club de Mer, 1956, participated in General Motors Motorama as a show car. Managed to participate in the races on Lake Bonneville. The fate of the car ended sadly - in 1958, the only Club de Mer was scrapped by decision of General Motors management.
