  2. Well, personally I make a strong difference between a government and republican institutions. If a government start proposing laws outside of the spirit of the constitution, said laws will be shut down by the constitutional council If things goes really wrong, protecting the Republic would be the role of the army even against our own government, like de Gaulle did (in the sense that he assumed temporary power, and rejected the Vichy government ,but left it to restore democracy). And I believe that French citizens trust their soldier to stand true to our values (2016 poll

    AFV Engines

Like I said, top-notch gas turbines are really hard to make. As in, I can count on both hands the number of companies worldwide that can. The Oplot seems to keep the original T-80UD engine bay dimensions, it might be too small to fit a V2-derived diesel in there. So the two-stroke is probably their only option that gives enough power but fits into that envelope.

  13. I just checked Full Circle. Sturgeon's account is basically correct. After WWII, the Soviets and Americans fought over all the German jet engine experts and rocket scientists, and the French got all the German tank and gun experts. For a period in the late 1940s and 1950s all the French tank designs look sort of like panthers and tigers and all of their rifle designs look sort of like STG-45s, and that's why. As soon as these German scientists weren't forced to wear collars and leashes (early 1950s), most of them moved to Spain where they found the Mediterranean climate and oppr

  16. The plot thickens: Three other sheriff's deputies in addition to Peterson were sitting in the parking lot when the Coral Springs PD showed up. The heat against Petersen looks suspiciously like an attempt to sacrifice him to distract from a department that was wholly corrupt and incompetent. Edit: Ooops, got LoooSeR'd by @Ramlaen. This is new though; it looks like the sherriff's office delayed the entry of paramedics.
