  1. You are correct. In Armored Thunderbolt by Zaloga he has a picture of an M4A1 with the M2 gun in a British workshop in Egypt on page 36. The caption says "a handful" of early Sherman tanks had the M2 gun.
  2. There were at least two Sherman tanks with the M2 gun. One was T-25189, which still had the side hatches on the hull and was used by US Ordnance for testing. The second was T-25190 and did not have the side hull doors. This vehicle was dubbed "Michael" and sent to the UK. Both were produced at the Lima Locomotive Works. At least, that's what Hunnicutt says in "Sherman" on page 124 and 125.

  4. Honestly, I'm not all that big on fairness these days. Face it, Republicans got played on this Kavanaugh issue. It doesn't matter if you think these women are telling the truth or not. The Republicans take damage either way. If Kavanaugh gets voted down, they have to find a new nominee after the midterm elections. If they push it through, they further alienate female voters, particularly young ones, a demographic where the Republicans are already quite weak. I guess they should have vetted the candidate better...
  5. It's not whataboutism. It's directly related. I was rebutting a previous post about Lindsey Graham in which he tried to claim that Republicans had been dealing with supreme court confirmations in good faith while democrats had suddenly politicized the process. The politicization had started far earlier. Republicans tried to ram this confirmation through saying they were on a strict time table. Two years ago, they stalled for months. So you see, those are related topics. Whataboutism is when you bring up an issue, and I bring up something unrelated in order to distract from your point.
  6. Funny, when Obama nominated Merrick Garland, the Republican Senate had no problem postponing a hearing for months for purely partisan reasons.
  7. For the record, I did not lose my last job. I resigned of my own free will, and was in no danger of being fired.
  8. This argument would be valid if this were a trial. It is not. This is essentially a job interview. It's to determine if this particular candidate is of good character and qualified to be given a lifetime appointment as one of the most powerful judges in the nation.
  9. you don't get to take the high road. Once you all threw in with Trump, normal rules go out the window. Every tactic is allowed. You all support a man of such obvious low character and bad motives because it furthers an agenda you favor. Don't complain when the people who disagree with you start to utilize every tactic available.
  10. You know, appointing a new Supreme Court Justice should have been a slam dunk. Seems like it's turned into a bit of a mess.
  11. Probably works better than a real Pz IV suspension.
  12. I thought it was odd that one of the brothers in the ad is labeled as a private investigator. Is that really a job in real life?
  13. Apparently, this guy has nine siblings, and six of them decided to publicly endorse his opponent. One thing the ad does not say is that one of his siblings is a former chairman of the Wyoming Democratic Party.
  14. One second through, probably not as awkward as this candidate's next family event. Minnesota state lawmaker ends reelection bid amid daughter's allegations of inappropriate touching
  15. Anyhow, I am about one-fifth of the way through the Woodward book. It reads pretty quickly. So far, it seems to ring pretty true. Not all of it is negative and I wouldn't call it a diatribe. It's certainly critical, but there are bits that I thing some of you might find interesting. Consider this excerpt:
  16. Actually, I was using the numbers from Gallup, who tend to post numbers more in favor of Trump than most of the other polls. ABC is reporting a 60% dissapproval rating.
