  1. I feel ashamed for only now learning there was a AMX 13 made with a stubby 105mm howitzer in a traditional turret.
  2. Starting on the suspension some, changed the internal layout of the guns so it would all fit. Messing with a lower turret mounting height, but that decreased depression by 1° (-11.5° now). The gun gets some rangefinder or camera on it now too. Edit is for newer layout. 6 bigger wheels instead of 7 smaller ones, internal layout of the guns tweaked so the MG fits properly. Image of said layout in spoiler
  3. I guess here's the start of a newer thing of mine. This one isn't going to be the most serious if that's OK, but I'll still try to keep it in the theme of the thread. I'm basically making something that I like how it looks, then refining it from there. The T-34-85 I posted earlier today was actually something I already had on hand. I don't even know what gun it has other than "big autocannon". Didn't have a coaxial MG at first, but I think I may keep it. Probably would be able to upgrade to a 105mm or a low pressure 120mm if you really wanted. Hull floor is sloped up near the edges to help with things going boom under it, with the front hull relying a lot on slopes. Probably going to change the flat bit near the turret. Crew is near the rear, with the turret either being unmanned or low profile. Things that make the tank go will be more towards the front. Dunno if the spot on the other side of the driver will be for more of that stuff or ammo or communications stuff or what. Depression and elevation is -12.5°/+30°. Depression I know works since that's what the bump on the roof is for, but the elevation I'm less sure of. And yes, the cameras/optics are actually a smiley face in disguise.
  4. Considering I was about to make that correction as well, yeah it's a valentine.
  5. Ghetto T-34-85 is my submission :^) That's actually not what I'm submitting. If I find the time and effort, I'll start working on something better, though it won't be super fancy. This makes me want to learn solidworks so I can get fancy measurements and stuff.
  6. I kind of want a sentinel, but WG knows it's a tank people will want, so I can't get it with spare gold. Woe is me
  7. Yeah, I certainly have no intentions of saying goodbye to it since I know it's been in the family for a while. Either way, it was pleasant to see the positive things people had to say about it and the price for it when I googled it. I'm hoping to take it out shooting this upcoming week, but I'll need some food for it first. I don't want to shoot it too much since I'd like it to stay nice and shiny like it is, but I still want to try the thing out. The kit has a metal brush for a .22, some Hoppes 9, maybe some cleaning patches, and a couple other things in it, but I'd have to check. Reading your tips, it sounds like I've got what I'd need. It's too late tonight for me to do anything about it, but I plan on cleaning this tomorrow along with reading this page again. The advice is appreciated. My grandfather had a reputation of keeping his stuff in as good of shape as possible, which means he'd go after you if you used a shovel of his and never cleaned it off when you were done. He passed away when I was in elementary school, so I never had much time to know him, but he seemed super cool. I don't think my dad's ever touched the gun much at all without my grandfather around, so that's another good way to not break it. One of my uncles has the rest of my grandfather's guns I believe, so I'll have to ask him about what all is in there when I get the chance.
  8. I'm not too well versed yet in actually handling firearms, so some cleaning tips for that .22 may be nice. Barrel for sure needs to be cleaned since it looks like there's some dirt or dust down there. The gun was my grandfathers when he was younger, but I don't think it's been used since. It's seen some use, but that would have been a few decades ago. The bag it's kept in seems to agree with this. Google should be good enough for some of the stuff, but some pointers wouldn't hurt. We've already got a cheap gun cleaning kit laying around for it, so I should be covered as far as tools go. That cat of mine probably wouldn't mind being close to people being idiots, but I couldn't see him enjoying being actually on the table. I'd hope he doesn't get shot by anyone either. To be fair, my post says it's edited because those pictures all used to be the same size they were on my phone, so 4320 pixels wide. Whether or not it takes up much space after the forum resizes it, my internet wouldn't like needing to load too many of those at once. My phone actually loads images and such faster than stuff on my home internet connection does. I don't have too many more posts in the T110 thread than you do, Tied .
  9. So I finally found the .22 my dad keeps talking about, the one gun in my immediate family, and it's a rather nice looking Winchester Model 61. Barrel looks like it could be cleaned, but otherwise it's pretty darn good looking. The finish on the metal and wood looks pretty great still, the metal is just a little worn where the pump slides against it, as well as other places like a on the edge of the butt plate some. Shitty pictures thanks to my phone. How do you make spoilers? I tried
  10. https://www.reddit.com/r/Warthunder/comments/48juyy/gaijin_are_at_it_again_increasing_prices_before/ TL; DR Gaijin puts things on sale, except the sale price is higher than what it normally costs.
  11. Tied plz, if there was such an anti-autist rule, I don't think you'd be allowed here either. I've been instructed by third parties to play UVZ warfare with you or something as well. Maybe it was war thunder. My issue with it is it doesn't have the camo or final accuracy to snipe, the mobility or armor to brawl, or the alpha to be an ambush wagon. It somehow manages to be slower than the ISU-152 as well, both in acceleration and speed cap. It's more a tier 7 in its current state IMO, so I'd agree pref is needed. I'd say it's actually pretty darn comparable to the Sturer Emil in a lot of ways.
  12. ISU-130 is awful at everything except trolling pubbies. Too bad WG will never buff it because there's not enough for them to bother.T25 looks like it'll be similar to the STA-2, difference being the T25 will actually be pretty decent. I'd need to look at their stats again. I do find it pretty funny that the T25 has more pen than the super Pershing or the long 90mm on the normal Pershing.
  13. I'm no expert on firearms, but a lot of the rifles on the left just look like pellet rifles to me.
  14. This game looks like it could be fun, but I would have no idea what I'm doing.
  15. I got burnt out on WT after grinding out a T-34E premium and getting fucked over in their E-100 tournament thingy. I solopubbed 73% after 41 battles or so in that abomination of a gamemode, only to get a tank that everyone else who forked up $7 got too. To paraphrase Gaijin, my reward for making top 500 was the privilege of getting to own the caputed panther a couple weeks sooner than everyone else. Meanwhile, the other randomly selected 50% of the top 500 got the RBT-5. Much sadness was had. I find it humorous that the T25 gets better pen than the super pershing or normal pershing with AP. It's a tier 8 premium med btw. I kinda want to play WoT more, but every time I think that, I get rolled over by an O-I or nuked by arty.
  16. I was out antique shopping with a friend about a month back, and the place had a pencil sharpener that reminded me a lot of that. However, I think it had a Panzer IV turret with the stowage bin and longer 7.5cm, mounted on a Duster hull. That's my baby. Made it a while back from all the shitposting on Warthunder so I could get mad upvotes.
  17. Assuming you mean the AW Sherman articlehttps://aw.my.com/us/news/general/eternal-warrior-75-years-shermanI've got a side shot of that Indian sherman on my computer, but I'm on my phone right now so too bad. I think the same photo is in the .pdf of surviving postwar shermans.
  18. The Sherman article just posted on AW reminded me of the Sherman with the PT-76's 76mm, so I went and googled it. This time, it was the very first result, instead of me finding nothing. welp
  19. If you forget the car underneath, it's actually kinda convincing from a quick glance. The fact that there is a car underneath is fuckin hilarious though.
  20. So I can contribute something to this thread, have this budget terminator, apparently built by government forces. Both bumping and "answering" this I guess. Also found out why that youtube video wouldn't embed. Instead of using the short link, it seems that I'm supposed to just copy/paste the address bar. I've had no luck finding any other pictures or videos of the thing. I tried googling some of the words from the youtube title, as well as looking at photos from around the time of that specific battle, but no luck. I of course am not the best at searching for stuff like this either. I don't know if you've seen it already, but the post is here in this spoiler:
  21. I can't say I'm entirely sure it's a Sherman either, but I can't really think of anything else that may be, and the general shape seems about right. It makes for a really interesting thought too. It doesn't seem to me like it's the turretless M4A1 from the OP at least. Watching it again, there's a few (color-coded) details I've noticed. ● Red: There's something I guess is sheet metal that they've dressed the thing up with. There's a clear X shaped indent on the forward one and a single panel over the side around where the crew would be behind. The ● blue dot is what looks like the floppy remains of other sheet metal stuff, and the forward one with the X indent is missing on the other side. I'm guessing it's been shot at before by someone. I don't think the Sherman would have so much space over the tracks either. ● Yellow: What looks to be a set of periscopes, so I'd assume driver's still on the same side ● Green: Some sort of lamps or cameras or something I think. About where you'd find the hull MG for the co-driver. ● Absolutely Fabulous Fuschia: The dot itself seems to be a recessed area or something. There also appears to be plates behind it, certainly not how'd I'd expect it to look from a Sherman. This would help explain the whole thing with a T-55 turret working on an M4 hull, but I have to wonder if it's even more of a frankentank than meets the eye. The hull above the tracks seems wrong for a Sherman with there not being as much stuff over the tracks or the odd engine deck. The rear hull still looks like a Sherman, though I'm unsure about some of the engine deck. On the side hull above the tracks (this is what you call the sponson, yes?) the bottom looks like it bends up, unlike just staying flat for the entire length like it should. The parts covered in highlighter look about right to me, but the red mark is this bend I'm talking about. The angled engine deck area between the side hull and the roof proper looks like it ends sooner than it should, but that could be due to what I marked earlier in the Absolutely Fabulous Fuschia. Check the first frame of the youtube link to see it not murdered with the snipping tool. Perhaps they had some busted T-55, saw the still working Sherman, and put the big gun on the working tank hull? Maybe cut off a bit of the T-55 roof, and glued it to the whole deal? Dunno if that's even possible, but it sounds like something you'd try if you really wanted a tank. The gun barrel looks like it's painted in the colors of the old Syrian flag too, not the rebel one. Google hasn't been much help (other than probably putting me on more watch lists), but I did find what I guess is a T-72 with cage armor on the sides and the turret replaced with a quad 23mm in a metal box turret instead. I figure there's other threads for that. Despite how much I'd like this to be a Sherman, it's probably some boring recovery vehicle or something else that no one likes.
  22. It's a lot to read through, and I'm still not done with the first page, but I do think I might have a followup on the Syrian Sherman. I was linked a youtube video a while back of what seems to be a Sherman operating in Syria sometime mid July 2015. Interestingly enough, it seems to have a T-55 turret on top that can turn, despite the difference in turret ring sizes. Lots of ERA too. The video is compressed to hell and back at least four times, but there's enough details I think to make out the shape of the Sherman hull and D-10T gun. Tank is shown for the first 32 seconds or so. https://youtu.be/rmxj-9-xeis I can never get these stupid youtube links to embed On my big jumbo monitor, some still show up funny, but I think some of that has to do with the actual forum software. Opening them up in new browser tabs does the trick. If it's not already covered in this thread, does anyone have any pictures of Indian Shermans fitted with the Soviet guns?
