An overview of what DS3's story played like early on before release.  It's not entirely official, but there's some interesting details and L O R E implications.

Also kind of seems like the game was another (relatively) rushed job by From like DS1.

I'm game. I'll have to head to somewhere with less trees than New York, though.

So today, the fiance and I are crawling around some mountain towns and we come across this vinyl in a junk-store. It's to a movie.

    We're thinking... Porn?

    Found the synopsis.

    Yup. Porn.

And here I thought, oh so naively, that we were done with weather disaster movies.

Here's a fun drinking game: Take a drink (not even a shot) whenever you see something in this trailer that is physically or thermodynamically impossible

    And then die.

Many foreign makers pulled out of the U.S. market as a result of those dubious "safety" standards.

Ever wonder why some like the MG or the 240/260 Z ended up with silly looking bumpers?
"Safety Standards". (Meant more to reduce insurance payouts for minor fender-benders, as the telescoping "battering ram" bumpers were useless in much other than the slowest of collisions)

I don't know a lot about the US climate, so I just guessed, thanks for correcting me.
And yes, I assumed they did, it is the norm her in Norway for washrooms and bathrooms to have tiles, sometimes the hall too.
But if you speak about what is the most cost efficient, electric floor heating is not worth is at all.
It's a "luxury" thing, people want it so that they can have fancy floors that tend to be very cold, and still have a warm feeling from beneath their feet.
A rug is way more cost efficient. The only real upside is the very well distributed heating.

I am not sure about the US, but most people know a carpenter or construction worker, or knows how to do flooring in Norway. We do all the prep work for the electrician, then he does the wiring and fuses, and we add the floor again. Sometimes we let the craftsmen do it do have it be extra nice. So it tends to be pretty reasonably priced.

Not sure what would break in electric floor heating. It is all solid state, it would outlast your fuses, even the thermostat.

Most houses in Norway lack ducting outside of simple air ducts that lets fresh air in, and the blower to getting the cooking fumes and steam out.  Most people do have a HVAC and wood stove though.
The stove is mostly for the cosy feel, but it is also a back up in case of a power outage, in which it gets very cold in the winter.

Electricity is "dirt cheap" here, so that is a big factor. Gas is not reasonably priced.

Almost all houses in Norway lack water borne heating. Some do in special cases, like when a furniture factory is nearby and sells he excess heat.  Only modern houses have balanced heating with ducts, which means most heating comes from HVAC, heaters, wood stoves and floor heating. New houses tend to have floor heating in every room. Old houses only in the bathrooms and halls, places with tiles.

So yes, we use almost purely electrical heating, either through HVAC or heating elements.

    Never heard of in Norway.

Water borne heating is awesome, if you can pay for it. Much more efficient and allows a lot of power saving.  Thermal solar panels, wood/gas heating, electric heating, heat pump heating.

Though it is simply not worth it to retrofit in most Norwegian houses, and most opt for electrical heating instead in modern houses to save cost.

Given the price to retrofit in heated flooring - especially when water pipes are used - it doesn't really make sense.

Haha nice! It's crazy the kind of effect it makes.

I ran to the shop this morning (literally) and picked up the truck. My God, the difference is night and day. It handles five times better I swear. Feels smoother down the road. And they priced me fair for what they did.

    That sucks.

I once took an 84 Blazer in for an alignment, it wandered and the steering was sloppy, steering box was not broke out of the frame and the rage joint was good. The guy doing the work was a pal I grew up with and did stuff at cost, so I knew I wasn't getting ripped off.  He calls, and said, it would align, to much wheel play, maybe the wheel bearings were shot. I say whatever, just let me know, he calls me back and says, it needs wheel bearings, and HUBS, because the wheel bearings had not been serviced, and the races were loose in the hubs. The guy I bought it from thought maintenance meant fixing it when it broke... Anyway,  I helped put it all back together when I got off work, and luckily the auto locking hubs were in like new condition, lol and went right in and I never once had a problem with them.

I traded an AR-15 for this thing, so it was still a good deal, but it had other lack of maintenance woes I had to fix, and ultimately lead to its demise.   The funniest thing about the truck is the previous owner was like 6,3 350, and had bent the seat frame back.  I got in the back seat and bent it back into place, but the frame was weakened and over time it would slowly tilt back. So I cut a 2 by 4 to fit and wedged it into the back seat.  I had class back then.

Depends on what you consider live ammo.
For law enforcement anything below the second line of this table is considered as it:

It ranges from tear gas launched from a grenade launcher to 7,62mm so it's quite a wide definition.

If we are only talking about bullets then definitively no. The only case when the law enforcement can use them (in the context of a protest) is when they are directly shot at with firearms, which is basically never.

Otherwise they have access to a wide range of "stun" grenades which work either with sound, light, both, shock-waves and rubber projectiles.
Those are supposed to be used when the crowd get too close allowing the law enforcement to retreat and reorganize.
They are first to be rolled on the floor and if things get really out of hand launched from a hand held grenade launcher.

Now some of those grenades contain a little amount of explosive, and regularly cause injury (launched to close, launched in a high arc against the procedure, idiot trying to pick up the nade blowing up his hand, etc).
Needless to say they regularly pop up in the public debate because of the serious injury they can cause.

One particular type of grenade was for example banned, after causing a death in 2014, the officer launched it in a high arc against procedure and it got stuck between the backpack and the back of a man, the blast killed him.
We are one of the few country (if not the last one) in Europe which still use such a large panel of potentially dangerous grenades.

Funny enough the use of the taser was banned for law enforcement as it was seen as dangerous for vulnerable peoples (elderly, pregnant women) but mainly that it was degrading and against human dignity.

This article sums up what the law enforcement can and cannot do during a protest:

A VERY comprehensive survey by the Dept of Justice which includes 287,400 prisoners who used a firearm in a crime and how they obtained it. Includes graphs and other info

    https://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/suficspi16.pdf

    Highlights

An estimated 287,400 prisoners had possessed a firearm during their offense. Among these, more than half (56%) had either stolen it (6%), found it at the scene of the crime (7%), or obtained it off the street or from the underground market (43%). Most of the remainder (25%) had obtained it from a family member or friend, or as a gift. Seven percent had purchased it under their own name from a licensed firearm dealer.

    ...

Among prisoners who possessed a firearm during their offense, 0.8% obtained it at a gun show.

State prisoners with no military service were more likely to possess a gun during their offense (21%) than prisoners who had served in the military (16%).

Almost 3 in 10 (29%) black prisoners serving a sentence in state prison in 2016 possessed a firearm during their crime. White (12%) and Hispanic (21%) state prisoners were less likely to have possessed a firearm during their crime. Similarly, white (17%) and Hispanic (13%) federal prisoners serving a sentence in 2016 were less likely to have possessed a firearm during the crime than black (29%) federal prisoners.
