A quick look gives us this from the beeb:

So, basically were on a slight upward trend, reaching levels comparable with the not-even slightly violent as I recall, mid 2000s.

The steep uptick of the 'Total Violence' curve I suspect is the result of the sort of drivel quoted in the first half of that Twitter(?) post being counted as violence.

Yeah, the is a similar increase in stalking and harassment, so they might be rolling internet crimes and nazi saluting pugs with that.

  2. I guess it's just the American way to bring a gun to a knife fight.... and win.... very easily....

I believe the statement that he was trying to make is that some dickhead gets hold of an illegal knife, therefore you need stronger knife control laws. The same logic that drive NY and CA to keep introducing gun control measures, despite the fact that the already have the strictest in the country, and a fair amount of gun crime to go with it. People don't seem to realize that stronger XYZ control laws =/= less crime with XYZ.

I was thinking in relation to this, the gulf stream is what keeps Norway from being a cold wasteland. Considering that Ohio is center north in the US, it should be a bit colder than, for example, Italy.

    But I see your point.

Remove the flooring tiles, cut into shape the heating mats, add a power cord and heat sensor, and hook it up to a thermostat. Then re add the flooring.

    Not very expensive at all.

Besides, who uses water borne floor heating outside of eco houses?

We use water borne floor heating. I believe my parents are going to install it again when they build their next house. I also helped a friend install it in his wood working shop years ago. We laid out a metal grid, attached the tubing to it in various subdivided sectors, and then the concrete slab was poured on top.

    Where are you from, again?

A majority of the US lies nearly on the same latitude as northern Africa.

We also hate efficiency over here. I was spoiled by growing up in a house with subfloor heating. My parents Incorporated a lot of "green" features in that house, not because it was environmentally friendly, but because it saved a lot of money in the long run. That house is 27 years old, and it still meets efficiency standards for houses built in 2018.

Ah, the good old days when you did things such as recycling for the sake of saving money, as oppossed to this namby pamby mother gaia green peace hippy shit. Proof that capitalism will always be the superior system.

WT has it's own issues, (mostly with physics not based in reality and "Sekret Dokumentz"), but yes, at least one can say "fuck this noise" and just fly.

Even when you get bottom tier, you don't get tier fucked like you do in WoT. You also have the flexibility to select which tank you want to use. A good example is the 3.7 soviet line up, where the SMK and KV-1 L11 are amazing if they are top, and dog shit in any other situation, but you can offset that with T-34-76s and the 29K, which are solid all around choices, even if you get bottom tier. Not having to chew through 3x your own tanks HP with half the DPM of your opponent really levels the playing field and makes player skill significantly more important.

Long ago, I predicted that the number of players picking up (and staying with) the game would drop, if WG did not encourage and reward low tier play, instead of making them stepping stones in a race toward top tier.

Adding bots might be a temporary fix, but it's not going to solve things.

Offering single player missions and play (perhaps at reduced XP/ cash payout) and making garage space much cheaper (if not free/unlimited)  with cosmetic or equipment rewards, for actually putting some time in lower tier vehicles and learning the game, MIGHT remedy the damage and change the course the game is taking.

Instead of it being a simple and depressing race to top tier, it might give it a bit of depth.

In addition to many other aspects of WT that I like more than WoT, one of the biggest is the fact that it doesn't really feel like a race to the top. There are certain bands that you want to play in to optimize your MM results, but I have been able to have quite a bit of fun at almost any BR.

Well, at least these are official WG bots making up half the teams now instead of 3rd party grind bots. They will be more reliable than most of the human players anyways.

Meanwhile, in WT: Italian ground forces, supersonic jets, AAMs and countermeasures, more modern vehicles, and more boats.

  8. No no no, you don't get it. They weren't taking about using the military to confiscate everyone's guns, they are talking about using the military to commit democide when law and order breaks down after they try to get the police to take away everyone's guns.

But seriously, they don't care how it happens, they just want to disarm the population. There have been way too many politicians calling for disarmament for years for me to believe that I won't be able to own anything more than an air rifle if they get their way.

  9. Yeah, I still heard that he is willing to use nuclear weapons against potentially millions of people if they are unwilling to give up a class of weapons that is responsible for fewer than 500 deaths annually.

He is being called a tyrant because he is acting like one.

Also, as far as his "find common ground" statement goes, they vehn diagram does not intersect. The left wants what would effectively be total disarmament of the population (no "assault weapons", no "sniper rifles", etc) and gun owners want their natural right of self preservation to not be infringed upon. Our positions are mutually exclusive by evidence of the fact that the left will turn down ideas that actually address the root cause of gun violence in favor of meaningless blanket bans that punish the +99% of gun owners that follow the laws.

It's like Israel and Palestine in that Israel is willing to work to a two state solution, while Palestine wants Israel to be completely erased. There is no compromise that you can make in that situation.
