The Saudi Arabia is a Backwards, Laughable Shithole Thread
Lord_James replied to Collimatrix's topic in Open Discussion
After doing the bare minimum of googling global winds, the fallout could possibly be transported towards the Horn of Africa, if the winds are strong enough. As appealing as it would be to glass some goat fucker’s palace, I don’t think the people of Somalia and Ethiopia deserve to be irradiated. Back to conventional munitions, then -

So basically, Saudi Arabia payed $450 billion USD to get away with killing that reporter guy... ... ... Oh, hello Hitler, I didn’t see you there! Why are you disguised as the Saudi crown prince? -
ISIS... museum... is this place rigged with IEDs so they can blow it up later?

Battleships sunk (and recovered) at Pearl Harbor: USS Nevada. 27,500 tons. 6 bombs, 1 torpedo. USS California. 33,000 tons. 2 bombs, 2 torpedoes (and beached). USS West Virginia. 32,000 tons. 2 bombs, 7(!) torpedoes. ... they just don’t make em like they use to... -

If they could raise the 40,000 ton Hyūga in 1946 (for scraping), they can raise that 5000 ton frigate in 2018... right? -
Perhaps they have the social depth of a Neanderthal? “If you are not my friend, the you must be competition, and therefore an enemy”? Wouldn’t surprise me considering “speaking in absolutes” seem to be the fad.

So, I've been playing a game called Star Wars: The Old Republic, or SWTOR for short. It is developed by Bioware, and published by the Evil Administrators (EA), and came out in December, 2011. It's an MMORPG in the Star Wars universe, but it is unknown whether all this is "canon" according to Disney (I haven't seen anything official, and no one in the game can give a straight answer. My guess is it's in limbo, as it still makes money). Basically, this is back when the Sith lived in large numbers, and controlled an Empire that challenged the Galactic Republic. There are 8 character classes (4 for each faction), each with a different story, gear, companions, etc. Combat is... idk how to summarize it; it makes sense from a game play perspective, but I just don't know how to describe it... you have an ability bar at the bottom of your screen, with hot keys 1 through = set up for your actions (attacks, heals, buffs, etc.), and you lock on to enemies and allies with an autotarget feature, and you smash your keys and do more damage than the enemy does to you. I don't know how it compares to other games, as this is new to me. Characters have health bars, and stats that increase certain aspects of your character, like Endurance, Critical chance and damage, Alacrity (attack speed), strength (damage), armor ratings, etc.; and all these stats can be upgraded via gear and leveling your character, per usual. You also have dialogue options, as well as the choice as to which side of the force your character sides with (you can have light side Sith, and Dark side Jedi, among other things). There's a lot of stuff packed into the game (which is free to play, BTW), and I wish I had the motivation to do a nice, concise review and maybe even class specific series like what loooser did with Endwar, but I don't have the drive to do that. I don't have any screen shots of my characters, as it doesn't work for me for some reason , but I will leave you with one of the cinematics, which are pretty good IMO. They're nothing like the actual game, BTW.

Vehicles of the PLA: Now with refreshing new topic title!
Lord_James replied to Khand-e's topic in Mechanized Warfare
QN-506... ok, at least we get a name for it, or at least something to put on the graves of the poor souls whom would drive this thing into battle. -
I was mostly referring to the radioactive part, because something something uranium and radiation.
-
Depleted uranium is a terrible material to make ammo and armor out of because it is radioactive and poisons everyone near it )))))

Shooting in Tallahassee, Florida yesterday. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.tallahassee.com/amp/1884582002 3 dead, including gunman, and 5 more injured. -
In the indelible words of Benjamin Franklin: He who is willing to trade freedom for safety, deserves neither. Although, I would agree that there are exceptions to this, as the nefarious masses are always getting creative on how to subvert the law, using the law; there are some basic fundamental rights that should never be rescinded, and IMO (and many more), those rights are outlined in the Bill of Rights of the Constitution. This includes my right to own a weapon to defend myself, those I love, my property, and if need be, the nation as a whole. If someone else is willing to give up their rights, that’s fine by me, so long as it is THEIR RIGHTS, and not mine, taken away.

The Soviet Tank Thread: Transversely Mounted 1000hp Engines
Lord_James replied to T___A's topic in Mechanized Warfare
Question: how did the original T-64 (Ob’yekt 432 and 432R) reload? If the 115mm ammo is not separated, can the autoloader do its job? Or is the 115mm ammo short enough that it wasn’t needed?- 5,212 replies

That’s IF the 8 inch guns are any form of accurate. The dispersion on most secondaries in WoWS often makes me nauseous. And so so I don’t waste everyone’s time: a convoy of minensuchboots (minesweeper). -

Oh, that’s a very nice pic, they still have their 8 inch guns, too! -
Perhaps some space telescopes stationed at Lagrange points 4 or 5, to look at point 3 cause we can’t actually see it (darn sun). Jupiter’s Europa was also a good candidate for life, iirc. It’s also closer than titan or Enceladus. That sounds pretty rad, using the sun as a lens; I would be curious just to see how well it works, and what we could see with it.
