  1. I mean you can say the same about the History Legends channel, a video of whom you recently linked to, and I assume youre also a subscriber of like myself. He also sometimes gets things wrong, and like Task & Purpose, when it happens its most often when it comes to technical details regarding equipment (hes no engineer either). You quite simply can't be right all the time, esp. when you venture into areas outside your expertise, hence why it's super important that youre able to admit it when you do get it wrong -> which I have seen T&P do on multiple occasions...infact he quite often makes fun of himself as being a simple grunt.

  2. Watched the Kornet vs Javelin video, and I agree that video has some big mistakes, most notably the velocity of the Javelin, which is a pretty jarring one, esp. as he lists it has one of its strong suites making it more capable of defeating an APS systems than the Kornet, which entirely wrong. (FaF & Top attack are its main advantages) He has made other minor mistakes in other videos Ive seen too, purely technical ones, like for the Javelin, which is understandable as he's not an engineer. But he has always AFAIK owned up them, and said they were his own. These few mistakes are not enough to completely discredit his content however, as he does get most things right and often provides inside information directly from the mil equipment industry (hes often invited to observe new tech), so that is in an overreaction IMHO. At least I would have to unsub from a lot of otherwise great content creators if I wasnt to accept a few mistakes here and there. Also I enjoy scolding when they get things completely wrong too much ;)

  3. Ok, I was kind of hoping for some specific examples of where he got it wrong to the point where he is untrustworthy, or where his analysis is particularly faulty.

I prefer objective analysis myself, and apart from maybe a few times in some of his videos where he becomes abit too "americano central" (which he also openly admits and mocks himself for btw) he has never come off as spewing downright "shitty trash" in my view.  Infact he seems to be pretty clear about both his sources, drawing a lot of information from both active and past personnel in the know.

    yeeee over9000mm for sure

    I didn't say that part was 900mm...

I said the combined LOS thickness of the inserts + gun cradle/mount + wedge, would be between 1000-1500mm in places, as logically the further you move toward the middle, the higher LOS thickness.

But by all means keep up with the hostile "I know it better" attitude, that benefits us all I'm sure.

Why all the blanket statements without proof?

Meanwhile we can see that it goes back as deep and sticks out further than the 2A4 mantlet:

and as can also be seen the new narrower mantlet is thicker still.

Thats incorrect, the blocks themselves are much simpler in nature. They are solid steel blocks as I described them previously.

What im interested is this part:

The part that is secured by the bolts and has been removed here:

Solid steel? I really dont see the necessity for that, considering:

    1) The amount LOS thickness available for NERA modules (~480mm) + the thick multilayered wedge infront and the solid 240mm trunnion and cradle behind. We're talking between 1000-1500mm LOS thickness total between the lower/upper & central area after all.

    2) It would be a complete departure from all the other heavily armoured spots on the tank, and again unnecessary considering the total LOS thickness available and desire to keep weight in check.

I'm convinced we're talking hollow NERA modules with angled tungsten polymer plates inside. These internal plates are probably quite thick though, so Im not suggesting it's a "light weight" installation by any means, merely that I dont think its solid steel.

They call this the "military industrial complex" mate

You should find there are some pretty major differences to what the Russians are doing here.

Anyway the presenter is an officer & military analyst for the Danish army, and I can only highly recommend his videos covering the war, esp. if one is interested in a professionally guided and objective PoV on the war.

This armor block is a one piece block with cutouts for a polymer at a 90% steel 10% polymer ratio, making 4 steel and 3 polymer layers.

However I find the use of the screws in this construction rather odd.

These bolts pass through the block and connect to something on its back. There is no threading on these bolts that interact with the steel block. They just pass through.

Does anyone know how the backside of this armor block looks like / whats attached to these bolts?

Presumably these screws ontop attach to the same thing.

You can even see a glimpse of it next to the gunner optics:

Four NERA blocks lightly welded together and secured to the mantlet piece by the bolts. Makes it easier to replace individual pieces or sections incase of damage.

“US navy ship flies a Jolly Roger; ergo, the US navy is resorting to piracy”

Come on m8, we’re (hopefully) all mature enough to see when someone’s being edgy like flying a hammer and sickle on a Russian tank or playing “Rock the Casbah” while invading the Middle East.

You think people posting laughing emojis at the war crimes committed by the VDV, and videos calling Zelensky evil, are mature?
