  1. As suspected the invasion is failing hard (it's a bloody shambles to be frank), and meanwhile the Russian economy is falling off a cliff and the anti war sentiment of the average Russian (but also the Oligarchs) is growing by the day.  It's becoming more and more obvious that the days of the little madman war criminal are numbered, and it's all by his own doing.

Slava Ukraini! And a prayer of hope that one day the Russian people will be free of corrupt dictatorships, and become part of the free west.

I could always be mistaken, but a video can be doctored as well.

Watch the video both at minimal speed and at normal speed. You'll notice that it is oddly stilted and that the flag never look quite right in it's environment (especially noticeable at lower speed). Plus a video not even making the effort of using a real narrator and coming from an obscure news channel should have a low trust capital to begin with.

Social media combined with the fact that everybody have a smartphone nowadays allows to generate and share a lot of raw data content. It also make it much harder to sift through all of it and determine what is trustworthy and what isn't. As a rule of thumb always treat what is coming through twitter and the like as suspect a priori. Especially if the info is shocking or surprising.

And then, even if the info turned out to be true, it would only be a single event, not a pattern until proven otherwise.

    *sigh*

Also I enjoy trolling liberals who wholeheartedly believe the fairytale of a "democratic rule based world order", and thus is the best chance ever. Guess what other factor besides land price caused the democratic Japan's lost decade? Key words: "Plaza Accord" :P

No'one is claiming the western world and its governments are all perfect. But the people who are trying convince others that they're no better than the criminal states & dictatorships in the east, middle east and asia, they're simply not in touch with reality - not to mention utterly oblivious to the privileges they enjoy if they themselves live in the west.

There's simply no excuse for invading a democratic country where people are living a free life, which was very much not the case in Iraq, Syria or Afghanistan. That the US pulled out of Afghanistan like they did, I was also disgusted by, now the women there are once again living an imprisoned life with no rights.

Freedom of speech always have a price, remebering 5 years of jail and ten thousand dollar fine for burning draft card? I neither believe in Putin or western propaganda, because I consider this war as the inevitable colletive result of NATO imperialist expansion since the end of coldwar and the rising Russian nationalism under the manipulation of Oligarchs since the collapse of USSR.

NATO imperialist expansion?? Sure, if you consider trying to spread democracy, freedom of press & speech, and protect people from criminal states imperialistic.

I think you're forgetting NATO is a defense pact, created precisely in response to piranha states like the one Putin is ruling with an iron fist.

Hence little Putin's reckless actions are only incentivizing MORE states to join NATO, such as Sweden & Finland = The exact thing the little maniac claims he wants to avoid, and has already threatened nuclear war over.

Germany authorized the Netherlands to send 400 RPG (old Pzf 3?) to Ukraine.

This is a major shift from their usual policy of absolute refusal to send lethal weapons to country in an ongoing conflict.

A lot of weapons manufactured on Europe have at least one part manufactured in Germany (or came from old German stock), and so far they have blocked all weapons transfer where they could. One example was the 42 122mm D-30 howitzer that Estonia wanted to give to Ukraine but couldn't because they used to belong to East German army.

This shift in policy could unblock a lot of weapons transfer to Ukraine.

    About time.

The little mad man in the east needs to go, and any supplies that will help make the war in Ukraine untennable for his forces and the general Russian public is the first step in that direction.

Yeah, sad people like you view the world like it id some sort of book for teenagers about fighting evil by forces of white knights with good guy powers. You can leave this dark place of unwashed peasants.

No, it's sad how you guys clearly are swallowing up Putin's propoganda and lies of "denazification" (esp. when he's the one actively hiring Nazis to fight for him. Read: WAGNER GROUP), and are justifying the invasion of a democratic state and the murder of innocents, and for what? So you can create a new puppet state? Thank god the western world is looking at Russia with disgust.

Even more sad, if you as a Russian suddenly become wiser and realize how wrong this war is, and then decide you want to demonstrate against it, you'll be arrested (and likely physically mistreated). That's the price you pay for living in a dictatorship where there is no freedom of press or speech.

Only thing I can think of which beats this is when a few (thankfully very few) people living in the west, enjoying all the freedom that comes with that, out of sheer ignorance start supporting this war. That is truly mindblowing.

I sincerely hope you said the same thing about the US, UK when they decided to invade  Iraq, bombed Syria, funded "moderate rebels" in Syria, toppled of the government of Ukraine, destroyed Libya, etc. in the 21st century.

Just a reminder,  foreign backed regime change coups are as legal as military invasions.  They are both illegal according to international law.  The hypocrisy and double standards are mind blowing. It highlights how  conditioned / brainwashed people have become. This is absolutely surreal.

To be fair the US and the satellite states that participated in these actions should have been sanctioned, particularly after it was determined that they had lied to the world, repeatedly. For some "strange reason" this did not happen. Hundreds of thousands of deaths have accrued, millions of refugees and trillions of dollars in damages were generated in the past 20 years because of the actions of the US and its enablers.

The 2003 Iraq war and the lack of response to aggression  was a watershed moment in World history. It demonstrated that might makes right and that "international law" including the UN are worthless / pointless in the grand scheme of things.

The US should have been severely sanctioned  for what it did in Ukraine, let alone the other mentioned places. The regime change coup in Ukraine in 2014 was one US coup too far. If the shoe would have been on other foot, the US  would have not been thrilled if Russia or any other nation would have had the "brilliant" idea to send their version of Vicky Nuland Cookie Monster to Mexico or Canada to bring  about an Anti-US regime change right at the border of the US. If we use the Cuban/Turkey missile crisis as an example we all know what these actions could and would lead to. Neither Russia, China, or any other US rival was dumb enough to attempt this in the past 50+ years.

You're so goddamn far off the mark is astonishing. Tell me, when did Ukraine, a democratic country, attack another country with chemical weapons? When did they commit crimes against humanity? When did they become a country controlled by terrorist groups? Things Iraq, Syria & Afghanistan were seperately guilty off.

Exactly what is it you consider an acceptable form of government type? Do you wish for people to be systematically oppressed by their government?

Dictatorships & terrorist states are a thing all nations should strive to erradicate, not leave to grow and potentially spill over into other countries via aggressive actions.

    Cope.

I'm coping just fine, we'll see how well the Russian people will cope as their economy heads to the dumpster....

But it IS sad to see the Russian people letting a maniac dictator run their beautiful country into the ground, my feelings go out to all oppressed Russians who in horror have to watch as their country is forced by Putin to assault their own kin.

Hello, 21st century will like to remind you that NATO members - Turkey and US have ground troops in Syria despite not being allowed to be there by a country. Also Iraqi. Afghanistan. Karabakh. This is not "insane", but a norm.

There's a clear cut difference between bringing down dictatorships and terrorist states, versus invading a democratic country.

But I guess your forum emblem explains it all. The Cold War is over, the genocidal Soviet Union fell, trying to bring it back is the definition of insanity and backwards thinking.

When I said the K9 had the most accurate gun I was not talking about the direct firing trials - I don't know the results. I meant the indirect firing only. I should have specified.

Sounds like an ammunition compatibility issue. As SH_MM mentioned the PzH trialed was an older type. Not sure why KMW didn't offer a newer version for the trials.

The KEW-A3 APFSDS and M829A4 use the SCDB technology to achieve greater muzzle velocities, but operating at a higher chamber pressure at 21°C (but due to the fact that SCDB is temperature-insensitive, these rounds won't exceed the pressure limit at higher temperatures). This option was suggested by Rheinmetall Nitrochemie about 18 years ago, but not taken.

Well TIPS is SDCB based according to RhM, so not sure I follow?

Is there any documentation which describes exactly what the difference between DM63 and DM63A1 is?

None of that suggests anything regarding summer. The mean temperature in Germany is 10°C: https://de.statista.com/statistik/daten/studie/914891/umfrage/durchschnittstemperatur-in-deutschland/

    Well I did find this:

    0sDUuT.png

Seems to say that DM63 has the same performance as the max of the DM53?

The possible 80 m/s increase in MV is also interesting, and makes you wonder wether this is what has been achieved with the DM63A1.

Performance as in penetration scales linearly with KE, if the shape of the penetrator is designed to optimize it. As Rheinmetall doesn't measure penetration using steel, but rather focuses on complex armor arrays only (customers have to pay extra, if they want a test campaign against pure steel targets), it would be easier to achieve a 20% increase in penetration than actually achieving a 20% higher muzzle energy.

If the penetrator is modified to take advantage of it, yes. But the original premise was that the penetrator remained the same, and that it was only the propellant that was "hotter".

Anyway that the tanker might have been alluding to performance with the L55A1 was just a theory, one which you obviously don't agree with. Fair enough.

    Three pictures from Turkish service...

Also, do you think DM53 will look identical to the presentation pictures?

    It certainly seems like it:

This difference in finish makes me wonder wether a new alloy could've been introduced from the DM63 onward to maintain performance similar to the DM53 at common european summer temperatures. The statement "Same high performance as DM53" could suggest this. Either that, or like I said earlier it's simply done so they're distinguishable without having to read the fine print on the SABOT. Not claiming either to be true, I am simply wondering since I find this sudden change perculiar.
