  2. That's not true. The best penetrators are the one with conical nose because the resistance of the armor causes that due to the material erosion the penetrator at the end of the process always has the conical nose. But blunt-nosed penetrator is much easier to produce by turning.
  3. Wait patiently. There's a lot of gossips about M1 since 2015 and none has come true so far. Also militarysta has talked the same about Borsuk IFV as he's talking now about new MBT. Now his mind about Borsuk is radically changed. Nevertheless his... The main problem with new MBT is that a lot of people want that tank in less than 5 years and that tank will be the death star. In case of longer R&D process there's a risk that the concept won't survive because the truth is if Pole is the richer and more impactful the more egoistic and vainer he becomes.

SLM has been invented to creating metal foams with regular cavity The other option I think could be creating difficult molds via 3D printing and filling them with a metal to create cast armor with a foam-like shape. But no... you will create then advanced ceramic-metal composite armor which includes sand cavities. Or maybe... first you create polymer foam via 3D printing which you use to cast high porous ceramic mold. This mold you use then to cast ceramic-metal composite armor with a metal being as a foam.
  5. It depends which technology of production has been used. Aluminium foam is often created by injecting hydrogen to the cast which is very hazardous. And the whole efectiveness of the foam is based on placing ceramic layer as an outer one while the foam is the inner layer. Then RHA can be the next layer. That's aluminium foam plate created by IFAM from Bremen. They use metal powder metallurgy where aluminium powder is mixed with titanium hydride. This mix is densified, then hot pressed and heated up to melt TH which creates the foam.
  6. I would agree with that but only if it refers to turret's 'citadel' armor thickness. Between the citadel and possibly thin outer layer covering APS parts from MG and AMR rounds there's a lot of free space which 30mm APFSDS has to 'travel'.
  7. Coming back to titanium, there's the another issue. AFAIK in 2005 Americans started development of new production technology of titanium armor layers (whatever it may be) with using powder metallurgy and brand new alloy - Ti-5Al-2.5Fe. This alloy is cheaper and less toxic than Ti-6Al-4V but has a bit worse effectiveness. Using that alloy in M1 may cause that armor should be thickened (by around 5 - 10% I think) to achieve similar protection to armor using Ti-6Al-4V.
  8. The accurate deflection of new Polish 120mm HE round for Rak (Crayfish) self-proppelled mortar. These numbers are for 10800 meters (11800 yd) - Rak's current maximum range.
  9. The same problems were also with thicker plates. Americans proved that in 1972 on 4" titanium plate.

  11. Currently, Rheinmetall has started to be only a subcontractor for 155mm L52 in Krab. Forgings for barrels still have to be imported from Germany but the final assembly is now made in Poland.

Our company, Aegis of Pacific, promises to fulfill your (and our) expectations so we'd like to create very well protected tank (as well as other ones) but it will be lighter, faster and more innovative machine than these cascadian chuds' junk and our rivals' machines! Unfortunately, our team has managed to create AP rounds to our gun which penetrates only 7'7" RHA plate at 1.25 miles but we could do it using our genial cannon which has only 110mm caliber! The other ones wants to create 6" and greater cannons to their tanks but our product will have higher rate of fire so we can supress those p**cks from Seattle in the future!
  13. Front layer and top plate has been added - my one weighs currently 25,9 tonnes with the lightest armor configuration (36mm HHS + 240mm air + 80mm CHA / 62 degrees) EDIT: 24mm HHS, not 36mm HHS. And tank now weighs 25,3 metric tons.

  15. From my friend who is working with American defence industry from the business side. I would call him a 'lobbyist' as well. But on the other it has said Lynx was still a very good IFV. So RLS probably has to slim it down to fit air mobility requirement (two base vehicles in one C-17)

  18. AFAIK U.S. Army reps has said after trials that Lynx is a bit 'obese'.
  19. I don't want but some people think that are righter and put some other people on too high on the pedestal while threating other ones who want to do the same. I only asked about using ceramics in a tank more advanced than fused silica and known in 1961. I may disagree with the rules but I have to accept them. I haven't ended my tanks in the previous contest but now I have more time and materials to do it.

  21. It's not everything about that there. Sometimes even NERA need some thick back-up. And this has still existed.
  22. But why? On the one hand you allow to use fused silica but on the other hand you can't allow to use granite balls which were first used in armor in mid-50s! I think the competition is a bit broken. And last but not least: 4. What about using doron in armor? In the previous competition it was available to use.
  23. 1. But what year to be precise? In 1969 we had a technology to create Chobham-like composite armor with ceramic tiles in aluminium honeycomb and STEF as a second layer. DPRC has a technology of aluminium production so they can also produce alumina, mullite or maybe even magnesium alumina spinel (MAS). 2. Can we use metal matrix composites with alumina or granite balls as an armor? 3. Are there any restrictions about using tungsten or tungsten carbide as an armor?
