  1. Note, due to SPECTUS KMW relocated the snow track grippers to the turret side add-on armour.
  2. ... and SPECTUS mounted at the upper glacis front. In this version, there should also be a new front armour package installed.
  3. Is that photo out of a "Bundeswehr" video?! Or where is the marker in the right lower corner coming from?
  4. Estimated better protection, multi fuel engine, high system reliability, best reputation within Leopard 2 user club including future enhancement strategies, common spare part supply via LEOBEN
  5. My hope is that the Norwegian decision is reflecting both, technical performance of the MBT and commercial benefit of the business. I still believe that Leopard 2 is the better choice.
  6. If the deal is really made, it will be i interesting how the Polish army will manage the fleet mix with Leopards, M1 and K2?!
  7. The mille out is done to save weight and achieve better CoG distribution when laying the bridge. The residual thickness is good enough for medium canon protection. IMO a clever approach!
  8. Another interesting article written by Hilmes about Marder 1 history from 1969 till today https://rheinmetall-defence.com/en/rheinmetall_defence/systems_and_products/vehicle_systems/armoured_tracked_vehicles/marder50/index.php The service life extension is interesting in regard to MELLS ATGM-system replacing MILAN and TOW. The EuroSpike missile with tandem SC warhead gives comparable performance like Javelin but can be fired under armour. This shows advantage in fire position mobility.
  9. Melnyk requested from Scholz one Marder per day delivered by Rheinmetall to Ukrainian Army instead to Bundeswehr. This Bundeswehr cannot accept because the 78ea Marders 1A5 are urgently needed in the Nutzungsdauerverlaengerung version, see https://www.google.de/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwidvJ23r4n3AhWrRPEDHXpGCHIQFnoECAkQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fesut.de%2F2020%2F01%2Fmeldungen%2Fruestung2%2F17991%2Fnutzungsdauerverlaengerung-schuetzenpanzer-marder-1-a5%2F&usg=AOvVaw3CzBrXliGItDpf0s7tLQpS as the PUMAs lack still reliability and spare parts supply.
  10. Is the Stryker 105 ammo compatible to gun L7A3 pressure wise?
  11. The question is the availability of the 105 mm x 617 ammunition. Closest ammo stocks to Ukraine are in Greece and Turkey as they have this tank still in service.
  12. 250 Marder 1 A3 are available at Rheimetall. Hope, they are mostly functional. Would be pretty good stuff requested by Ukrainian Army. Reliable, simple to operate and even after 50 years in use a good AFV.
  13. Very nice photo witch shows also the autoloader filled with APFSDS rounds.
  14. I believe that this stowage box is mainly for the hand weapons aso.
  15. Has somebody information on the Leopard 2 / K2 winter trials in Norway and how long they are going?
  16. Look to the yellow sticker below the right headlight! https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=http%3A%2F%2Fdefense-studies.blogspot.com%2F2017%2F06%2Fsingapore-details-ongoing-upgrades-to.html&psig=AOvVaw1zaBEghoERV5DqUp8WnkYL&ust=1643645578808000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=0CAgQjRxqFwoTCKii-Inv2fUCFQAAAAAdAAAAABAK The 70 in the yellow sticker means a MLC (military load class) of 70 short tons. This 70 short tons converted in metric tons equals 0.91 * 70 = 63.5. So the weight for the the IDB AMAP is 63.5 - 55 = 8.5 metric tons. Even heavy this figure seems reasonable. AFAIK the Singis have just installed a pretty light crew AC / cooling system from KMW, not more add-ons.
  17. Definitely not. The basic Leopard 2 A4 has 55 metric tons combat weight. If the 58.7 tons are metric, the add-on armour would have 3.7 tons for turret and chassis. And that would be fake armour against nothing. MEXAS of former IBD was a little better than a fake.
  18. Many thanks for your quick reply. Very interesting for the today's 130mm / 140 mm discussion!
  19. @Wiedzmin During what presentation / seminar / meeting in Switzerland this rod was presented?
  20. Why is this posted in the MBT Leopard 2 thread? Please switch to General artillery... thread!
  21. If you want to read a really good article about Leopard 2 in Canadian Army then go to Https://publications.gc.ca/collections/collection_2021/mdn-dnd/D12-11-19-2-eng.pdf LCol (ret.) Perry Wells gives a good overview about the Leopard Tank Replacement Project on pages 60 to 69
