  1. The following is derived from various wanderings, discussions, & tyre kicking, and covers an opinion on the forthcoming Land 400 Phase 3 Request for Tender, and is as per June 2018. General: Phase 2 will significantly shape participation in Phase 3. Costs for the two bidders that weren’t short listed for the Risk Mitigation Activity (GDLS & Elbit Systems) ran into the tens of millions of dollars. Costs for the losing BAE bid could rightly be assessed as double that. Combined with Rheinmetall’s Phase 2-driven “perceived incumbency”, nobody wants to waste money to be a stalki
  2. Welcome to Mighty Zuk's place of mental rest and peace of mind. This is my realm. I've decided it would be best to ditch the old Merkava thread for 2 reasons: 1)It does not feature any bunched up information in its main post, and valuable information is scattered across different posts on different pages. 2)Many AFVs that are not related to the Merkava, or related but are not it, appear in that thread with improper representation. There are other AFVs than the Merkava, and it would be better to refer to them in a general way. As time will go by, I will arrange this
  3. Lets start a thread about the CV-90. Past, present, futur. Link to the Linström's page about the initial Stridsfordon-90 project : http://www.ointres.se/projekt_strf90.htm An interesting SH-MM post about evolution of CV-90 : And a summary about contenders for the forseen Czech IFV programme : http://below-the-turret-ring.blogspot.pt/2017/08/which-new-ifv-for-czech-army.html?m=1 From a well known blog.
  4. The Armored Combat Vehicle Puma started as a privat-venture betwen Krauss-Maffei and Diehl in 1983. The two first prototypes were ready first in spring 1986 with a Kuka 20mm two men turret and second in autumn with a Diehl 120mm mortar turret. ACV-Puma was intented as an export armored vehicle of the 16-28 t class. By 1983 original concept, it was offered with two engine options (400/600hp) to cope with the level of armor protection asked. The running gear was a mixt of both Leopard-1 and 2 components : - Leo-1 : road wheels, track support rollers, tors
  5. I can't read russian or ukraine language so the range of information is very limited for russian AFVs. I'd like to have information about how fast turrets of soviet IFVs rotate. Especially BMP2, BMP3, BTR-82
  6. Not bad. Nice BMP upgrade I'd say. http://www.armyrecognition.com/slovak_slovakia_light_armoured_vehicles_technical_data_uk/sakal_ifv_bvp-m2_skcz_armoured_infantry_fighting_vehicle_technical_data_sheet_specifications_pictures_video_12607152.html
  7. There are some who believe that Infantry Fighting Vehicles, such as the CV90 or BMP, are an inherently flawed concept. These people contend that IFVs try to be both a tank and an armored personel carrier, and fail to effectively perform in either role. As a result, were a sustained high-intensity conflict to occur, they would fare poorly. To my uninformed eye, this argument appears to have some merit. However, I am curious to hear to opinions of those more knowledgable than myself (or heck, anyone with an opinion at all).
  8. http://www.janes.com/article/53057/boxer-the-favourite-for-lithuanian-ifv-buy 30mm Cannon and Javelins for armament. Is that the first vehicle mounting the Jav?
  9. http://www.janes.com/article/52476/german-army-receives-first-production-standard-puma-aifv 30mm with airburst capability, and supposedly better mine protection than a Leo 2.
