The up-armored front is also interesting when normal BMD-4M don't have it.

I was talking about the Drok.

Surely a self propelled Vasilek would be a much better 82mm light self propelled mortar.

Vasilyok is bigger, have bigger weight and clumsy to reload.

Israel's Elbit Systems is developing a new fully automatic 155 mm/52 calibre SP artillery system for the Israel Defense Force (IDF) that will start to replace the IDF's 155 mm/39 calibre M109 tracked SP artillery systems around 2023 , company representatives told Janes.

/.../

The new artillery system, called SIGMA, is being developed via an initial USD125 million contract announced in March 2019. It is based on a US-supplied Oshkosh Defense 10×10 platform selected by the IDF, which uses the trucks for a number of missions.

The platforms will be fitted with a fully protected control cab, a nuclear biological chemical (NBC) system, and full air conditioning for a crew of two or three.

Mounted on the rear of the chassis will be an automatic turret armed with a 155 mm/52 calibre barrel with a 23 litre chamber that meets the NATO Joint Ballistic Memorandum of Understanding (JBMoU), and is fitted with a muzzle brake and fume extractor.

The 155 mm/52 calibre turret system will be remote controlled from within. In addition, the system provides a manual reversionary mode, or “degraded mode” of operation, an Elbit Systems spokesperson told Janes.

The automatic loading system will set the fuze, load the projectile, and then the Uni-Modular Artillery Charge System (UMACS) with the primers will be automatically loaded via a separate magazine.

Some additional info on TOS modernisation

Quote

The heavy flamethrower system TOS-1A "Solntsepek" will undergo modernization, the modernization option is being developed by the specialists of "Omsktransmash" (part of UVZ), the work is nearing completion.

According to the general director of the enterprise, Igor Lobov, the creation of a modernized version of the TOS-1A "Solntsepek" will be completed in the near future, after which work will begin on the modernization of combat vehicles. It is emphasized that the modernized version of the TOS will differ significantly from the basic one, changes will affect sprotection, communications, fire control, etc.

The fact that the Ministry of Defense made a decision to modernize TOS-1 "Buratino" and TOS-1A "Solntsepek" was reported last year.

Modernization of flamethrower systems was required due to changes in tasks for TOS and increasing range. The upgraded vehicles will receive modern digital communication facilities, as well as equipment for a closed data transmission segment, which will allow them to be integrated into automatic control systems (ACS) of the tactical level. In addition, long-range ammunition from TOS-2 (Tosochka) will be adapted for TOS-1 and TOS-1A, thereby increasing the range of TOS to 15 km instead of the currently available 6 km.

At present, the RKhBZ units are armed with about a hundred heavy flamethrower systems of two modifications: TOS-1 "Buratino" based on the T-72 tank and the improved TOS-1A "Solntsepek" on the T-90 chassis. All complexes in service will be modernized. The combat vehicles will undergo mandatory modernization during the repair process.

TOS-2 showcase. It have plenty of features, build into each combat vehicle, instead of just in command vehicle. Atmosphere condition sensors, navigation/positioning, automated FCS, better ammunition loading procedure. Different warheads for new rockets were also shown, usual thermobarics, smoke, combine HE-Frag with thermobaric effect warhead.

On the morning of September 15, South Korean and Japanese air defense / missile defense systems recorded two missile launches at a range of about 750-800 km.

North koreans test fired 2 ballistic missiles (Iskander-like) from a train.

Yuri Lyamin suggested that it could have been build on chassis of 2nd version of NK ballistic operation-level missile with 2.5t warhead.

   Bigger version.

My totally accurate comparison shows that missile is probably based on normal-sized version, which may mean that "normal" NK SRBM is able to reach 800 km range.

2 days before train missile system test fire, Best Korea tested their new cruise missile. According to claimed perfomance, it have combined guidance system and is able to reach 1500 km range.

Also interesting note - trucks and launcher for big missiles were previosuly shown during night parade, but i thought that those were just different versions of their very big caliber MRLS with guided missiles (almost SRBMs). Missiles inside of those tubes looks different from cruise missile on photo above. Maybe they are using it as a testbed, or plan to use same vehicle and launcher tubes for cruise missile and for their quasi-SRBM.

I posted previously a link to an article about NK sales of their systems to different ME countries, even like UAE. Maybe they also did some sales to African countries during that time.
