Today, 30.01.18, IDF [Israeli Defense Army] published that in recent days a contract was signed for the purchase of thousands of lightweight grenade launchers "Mefatehah Kal Mishkal" with the "Rafael". This grenade launcher was developed during the last 2 years, according to the experience of Operation Mighty Cliff in the Gaza Strip in the summer of 2014, and is in essence a 40% lighter version of the Mefatseakh Egozim (Nutcracker) grenade launcher.

"Mefatseah Egozim" is the name in the IDF for the 90-mm MATADOR (Man-portable Anti Tank Anti DOoR) grenade launcher, a joint development of Rafael, the Singapore Army (SAF), the Singapore Defense Science & Technology Agency (DSTA), with the participation of the German company Dynamit Nobel Defense (DND) in 1999-2000s. In turn, MATADOR is based on the 75 mm RPG Armbrust, created by the German Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB) in the 1970s. The Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Germany did not accept Armbrust and the MBB sold its production rights to Singapore (Chartered Industries of Singapore, now Singapore Technologies Kinetics Ltd, ST Kinetics).

The IDF used Mefatsah Egozim for the first time in small quantities in Operation Cast Lead in the Gaza Strip in the winter of 2008/2009. After a number of improvements, it was officially adopted in 2010, and during the "Mighty Cliff" in the summer of 2014, the use of this grenade launcher was massive.

A serious disadvantage of "Mefateh Egozim" is a large weight: from 8.9 to 10.3 kg, depending on the modification. "Mefatseah Kal Mishkal" is called upon to correct this, without losing combat effectiveness. In addition to reducing weight by 40%, no other information on "Mefatehah Kal Mishkal" is published yet

Brits on Milan and HOT...

I really don't understand these values. Milan is listed with a 96 mm warhead, but the missile diameter was 103 mm... so it must be quite inefficient compared to newer ATGMs. The "Milan B"  is listed witha  120 mm warhead diameter, yet in reality Milan 2 has a 115 mm diameter and a penetration of more than 700-800 mm. I guess that a case of reality vs laboratory values, so the advertised performance needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

Can I bother one of you to post this in that thread on tank-net about Bradley’s and TOW missiles?

RADIO FREQUENCY MISSILES

A-12. In 2010, the Army began accepting a new version of TOW missiles. These missiles use wireless radio frequency (RF) for guidance. Missiles with radio frequency are designated TOW RF. These missiles eliminate TOW wires in the AO, eliminate firing limitations over water and power lines and through fires, and adjust the synchronization of indirect fires.

A-13. The TOW RF missiles will be TOW 2A RF, TOW 2B Aero RF, and TOW BB RF. The TOW 2B Aero RF variant was the first missile accepted.

A-14. No launcher modifications are required to fire a RF missile. Current launchers can fire TOW and TOW RF missiles. TOW RF missiles have the same maximum safe arm and maximum range as TOW missiles.

Isn't this something similar to Kobra GL-ATGM?
