ATGMs and RPGs for infantry - a thread for rebels around the world to choose their ATGM supplier.

Depends. Rafael is still, after all, a government owned company. And they do what the government tells them to do. Israel may still prefer not filing a lawsuit to avoid hurting the carefully built relations.

India is also known for pulling this shit off, for example when they cancelled a massive standard rifles purchase from IWI and going as far as blacklisting them and their parent company IMI, only to delist them about a decade later after no evidence was found.

IMI was also involved, by the way, in the Arjun project, adding 13 unspecified improvements (albeit minor), which only shows the great lengths India can go only to shoot themselves in the foot.

Just last April the Indian Army made a small but urgent Spike missile purchase (240 Spike MR missile). They can make small acquisition up to $72 million worth of items for each deal separate from the Indian MoD.

Once the Spike enters indian service, the Indian Army will probably purchase further batch as they cannot wait forever on bureaucracy's fairy tales. And the Indian Army might want something more potent like the Spike LR2, ER2 or/and NLOS. Strategic patience is needed when dealing with India's bureaucracy.

VKO-25 grenade for UGL like GP-25, showed at Army 2019. There is more powerful version of it called GK-94, claimed to be able to penetrate almost 200 mm of steel + it have fragmentation effect vs infantry. I susepct "-94" in the name mean it is supposed to be used in GM-94.

During discussion of ATGMs on otvaga forum members went intoa field of types of guidance/homing system on modern ATGMs like Spike and MMP. Both of them have 2 channel imaging system (visible light/TV and IR), but their exact implementation is different.

BARQeCO.jpg

Spike ER2 have 2 visible optics lenses for thermal imager and visible light camera build into single unit. in such set up TV camera may see things a bit different thanks to different shape/angle of transparent nose in front of it compared to what thermal imager can see.

French MMP have different execution of their sensor

Their optics assembly is 2 sided, each side is occupied by one channel - TV and thermal imager on the other side. Here is TV camera visible on MMP:

So it is possible that Spike ER2 can switch channels mid flight, while MMP probably would have problems with losing target during rotation of their optics array assembly to 2nd channel, especially moving target.

Some videos of MMP firing using TV or thermal optics.

According to system description it is pretty advanced system, minus SACLOS ATGMs. Taget tracking in automatic mode, can fire 2 missile one by one or in salvo, it can be remote controlled (150 meters using cable), have thermal imager and video record system, etc.
