Basically, if this thing fails, there won't be much left of West Houston.

Barker Reservoir Starts Invading Cinco Ranch Area Roadways

ATY (Fort Bend County EOM) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has reported that the water levels within the Barker Reservoir in northeast Fort Bend County are beginning to impact residential roads within the reservoir in Fort Bend County.

All of the information in this article is from the Fort Bend County Office of Emergency Management, except the video which was shot on Sunday morning by Covering Katy.

“It is critical now that residents in the western portion of the reservoir pay close attention to the developing situation there, and have a plan to keep yourself, your families and your pets safe,” said County Judge Robert Hebert.

“Corp of Engineer predictions indicate that water could soon rise to levels that will enter structures in those areas,” Hebert said.

As advised on Saturday, residents should be aware of the following road conditions:

Roads in Canyon Gate and east Cinco Ranch are now receiving overflow flood waters.

The first roads affected will be east of S. Mason Road. The waters will rise backwards from the reservoir in an area roughly south of Westheimer Road and east of Grand Parkway (SH 99).

Please do not drive on these impassable roads. Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

The potential impact of these flood waters may impact several thousand homes in the Barker Reservoir in Fort Bend County, including the following neighborhoods and subdivisions:

You can visit www.FBCOEM.org for an updated list of road closures and a map of the projected affected areas surrounding the reservoir.

    • CANYON GATE, all sections;
    • CINCO RANCH, following sections (Bayou Park Estates;  Cinco Forest;  Equestrian Village;  Fountain View;  Greenway Village;  Institutional Core;  Southpark;  Meadow Place;  North Lake Village;  Plaza Subdivision;  West, Section 7;  Willow Fork);
    • GRAND LAKES, all sections;
    • KELLIWOOD (Courts; Fairways; Greens; Links; Park; Pointe; Terrace);
    • RICEFIELD VILLAGE; WILLOW FORK (Greens, Section 1).

I wish there were a way to store all the water from these hurricanes.  It represents a whole lot of solar energy that went into de-salinating ocean water.  Such a shame that it all gets wasted.

I get, for instance, that the state of Kansas uses 1.6-1.9 trillion gallons of water per year, primarily for agriculture.  Hurricane Harvey dumped about 19 trillion gallons.

Wall off Houston and use it as a giant reservoir?

Also, 9 reported dead on the Dutch Caribbean due to Irma. Heavy damage reported and there's barely any contact possible with the outside world.
