Grandfathers are just offended. They from the very beginning rolled barrel on Kurganets-25. All this should not be taken seriously.

I called in Kurgan. Everything is fine with the "Kurganets".

This is good, but I was already upset. Sergei Nikolaevich does not take a his phone.

I talked with Sergei Vladimirovich.

Here is a rather fresh report from Kurganmash (07.08.2017):

OAO Kurganmashzavod, Russia's leading cogeneration plant, which is part of the Tractor Plants Concern, is working on the implementation of 11 state contracts in 2017. The state defense order of the current year was fulfilled by 63%.
Currently, five contracts closed - for the supply of finished products to the troops BTR-MDM, BREM-L, as well as three - for spare parts on the BMD-2, BMP-2 and BMP-3.
Six contracts are still in operation. By the end of the year, a three-year contract for the delivery of BMP-3 will be completed, to date it has been executed by 70%. 93% completed the three-year STC for the production of BMD-4M, in August, the final shipment of modernized amphibious vehicles will be carried out. The first batch of BREM-L was sent to the troops.
The work within the framework of the implementation of the state armament program at Kurganmashzavod will continue in the coming years. Long-term contracts have already been signed for the supply of BMP-3 of the latest modification and BREM-L. In August, it is expected to conclude an agreement with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation for delivery of BMD-4M and BTR-MDM. At Kurganmashzavod it is also planned to increase the production of spare parts for combat vehicles operating in military units within the framework of the GOZ.
It should be noted that over the past three years, at the Kurganmashzavod, the volumes of production of special purpose products within the framework of the state defense order have doubled, compared to the previous years. And this progressive growth made it possible to fully mobilize the collective of the enterprise, to use all material resources for responsible and qualitative fulfillment of the tasks set by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

"Kurganmashzavod" plans this year to complete the work on the creation of an infantry fighting vehicle (BMP) and other armored vehicles on the newest tracked platform "Kurganets-25", the company's annual report says.

"Ultimately, these works should be completed in 2017 by the adoption of combat vehicles (BMP and BTR type and unified lightly armored tracked platforms) for the subsequent creation and production of a family of lightly armored caterpillars for various purposes," the document says. "Kurganets-25" (the development of the military division of the concern "Tractor Plants", goes to Rostek) is a universal tracked platform on the basis of which the BMP, tracked armored personnel carrier (BTR) and armored repair and evacuation vehicle (BREM) are created.
The report says that prototype units have been created, their refinement and preparation for the comprehensive tests preceding the acceptance of this technology for service are under way. According to the "Kurganmashzavod", in 2014, state contracts were signed for the supply of experimental-industrial batches of armored vehicles in 2016-2018.

The supply of armored vehicles to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on the Kurganets-25 platform may begin in 2018-2019, Aleksey Losev, First Deputy Executive Director of Kurganmashzavod OJSC, told Interfax in April.
"The tests are already at certain final stages: the machine itself already performs all the functions that it was planned to lay in. Here at our test sites we work out everything that the machine should be able to do in combat use." In the next year or two, the machines will begin to enter the army " , - A. Losev said.

"Kurganets" is a new step for the Russian army, as well as other machines that were designed for the customer at that time - the Armata tank and the wheeled armored personnel carrier (the Boomerang platform), "A. Losev said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Defense Minister Yury Borisov said at the end of April that the mass production of armored vehicles on the Kurganets-25 platform will begin in 2021. "Serial production will start in 2021, but that does not mean that we abandoned it, we have time to identify all bottlenecks, test them, hedge all the technical risks associated with engine development, with automatic transmission, sighting systems, - said Yu.Borisov.
In the autumn of last year, the press service of the Tractor Plants Concern told Interfax that preliminary tests of the BMP, BTR and BREM on a new tracked platform were in progress.
Concern "Techmash" ("Rostekh") earlier reported the beginning of testing of new artillery ammunition with an intelligent system of remote detonation. Ammunition is intended for armored vehicles on three promising platforms.
"At the first stage, our ammunition will be made for 57-mm combat modules AU-220M Baikal, which have already been included in the armament of the Boomerang armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles based on the Armata T-15 platform and the Kurganets-25 infantry fighting vehicle, In the future we plan to develop ammunition of 30 mm caliber for older BTR-82, BMP-2 and BMP-3, "said Yuri Nabokov, general director of JSC" NPO Pribor "(Tekhmash concern).

Very nice find. It looks to me that the sights on the epoch turret are related to the sighting complex of the kornet-D.

That turret is full of nice toys. Apperently it can launch all 4 Kornets in one volley.

   From Andrey's link:

Quote

Friend or foe system, Ethernet, charge temperature sensor,  atmospheric conditions sensors, two missiles launch in one beam is activated via the button "tandem" (used against vehicles with active protection systems), can act as a not bad SPAAG and many more....

Also pretty sophisticated gunner/commander optics/sights systems with all sorts of automated target searching/detection/tracking/lock on and so on.

Berezhok on a K-17? That's stupid.

They had a perfectly sound concept with the Epoch turret. Unmanned, potentially overhead, good profile.

Technical deficiencies should be independent of the turret type.

So why the switch? I thought potential customers would be compelled to get the Epoch turret as well.

Let's see what it will have when it will go to service. Berezhok might be cost-cutting choise, because Bumerang-BM turret is pretty pricey with all its capabilities, while Berezhok offer same gun and same ATGM as previous turret for lower price.

Is it confirmed to be a cost cutting measure? Maybe there were some problems with the Epoch turret... Kurgents-25 being supposedly canceled, Russia ordering the BMPT (despite previously saying that the T-15 with Epoch turret would make this unncessary) and Bumerang being converted to Berezhok is suspicious... it might be coincidences, however it seems that the Russian Army is avoiding the Epoch turret. "One's an icident, two's a coincidence, three is a pattern..."

- Nothing is confirmed.

- No information on problems with turret (which is believed to be not named Epocha, as Epocha is armed with different weapon (57mm grenade launcher/gun)

- Where did you get that Kurganets is canceled?

- BMPT order is really small and BMPT can not fill roles of Kurganets/Boomerang/T-15

- Boomerang with Berezhok turret is one of prototypes, some think that army whant to test it capabilities and see if higher cost of K-17 with Boomerang-BM is worth paying.

- I don't see much of a pattern.
