The set of an autonomous local electric heating system SLEV-1 was demonstrated to the participants of the organizational meeting of the Central Military District in the Sverdlovsk Region, the press service of the district reported.

"In total, the Central Military District received about 1,000 sets of SLEV-1 for subsequent distribution to special-purpose units. They are designed to heat a serviceman by maintaining heat under the equipment in the comfort range at low temperatures," the message says.

The press service added that the autonomous heating system is put on underwear under the standard equipment, modularly providing heating of all parts of the body, without hindering the movement of the soldier. The duration of continuous autonomous heating on one battery is at least 12 hours at maximum power.

When I look at that thing, all I can think of is this:

Experts estimate that an average of 5,000 house fires are caused by electric blankets every year. These fires typically occur due to any one of the following reasons:

  • Manufacturing mistakes; i.e., improperly installed wiring, faulty control unit. This cause is rather uncommon, and the least often occurring cause in cases of electric blanket fires.

  • Improper handling of the electric blanket unit, such as prolonged use or unsupervised use in situations concerning small children or elderly persons with physical handicaps.

  • Normal wear and tear, which can cause the wire implements or other components to fray, break, or become otherwise damaged and susceptible to malfunction.

Razvedos posted a video about night combat part of competitions between SF units organised at the Russian University of Spetsnaz in Chechnya.

Plenty of footage from competition in the video. Main points of night phase of compeition is to test and teach participants, find gaps in their capabilities. During night phase RUS tested ability to navigate and move using only night vision system in different terrain (including urban, inside of big buildings), firefighting, vehicle driving and so on under stress. One of episodes showed night assault on private house using armored vehicle, firing from vehicle firing ports, coordinated actions of assault pair, sniper team covering attackers from roof of nearby buildings.

Another point was that conditions and training enviroment at the RUS were at the level that almost no unit would be able to afford to have for their own training purposes.

The optical recon system combines the functions of a thermal imager, TV and laser rangefinder. The device is produced in two modifications: "Sych-PR-S" medium-range and "Sych-PR-D" long-range. Both versions are equipped with a digital magnetic compass and have a satellite navigation system.

As part of Ruselectronics, the project is being implemented by the Tsiklon Central Research Institute. The Sych line is a multifunctional, reliable electronic optics with an effective set of technical characteristics. The devices allow you to detect people and equipment at a distance of up to 3 and 4 km, respectively. The built-in laser rangefinder works at a distance of 100 m to 5 km. The equipment has successfully passed the factory tests, and now preparations are underway for acceptance tests. It is planned that the serial production of the products will begin before the end of the year, said Pyotr Kovalev, general director of the Tsiklon Central Research Institute.

The devices differ from each other in thermal imaging channels: Sych-PR-D uses a cooled thermal imager operating in the spectral range of 3-5 nm. The equipment allows you to detect a person at a distance of 3 km, and a car - at a distance of 4 km. Sych-PR-S uses an uncooled thermal imaging channel operating in the 8-12 nm range, with a human and equipment detection range of 1.5 and 2.5 km, respectively.

Looks like an attempt to get into hands of SSO, which use foreign systems.

Combat as seen through L3 Harris' Enhanced Night Vision Goggles - Binoculars (ENVG-B), which is gradually replacing the AN/PVS-14. The unit here is 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 7th Infantry Division, going through a live-fire exercise at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (WA), on April 19. View mode is "Outline Mode Fused + AR/RTA" (Augmented Reality/Rapid Target Acquisition). The ENVG-B reportedly allowed the wearers to engage targets twice farther away than with the PVS-14.

Soldier from 1st ID peeking around a corner by leveraging the wireless connection between his ENVG-B and his LMG's sight (Family of Weapons Sights - Individual [FWS-I]). This feature even allows soldiers to more or less accurately shoot from the hip (not that it's encouraged, though).
